Cougars report: Getting inside
The 2007-08 season wasn't exactly one of the greatest in College of Charleston history, but it might be one of the most memorable. The Cougars struggled for much of the season, finishing with a 16-17 overall mark and a 9-11 record in the Southern Conference. But the season will probably be remembered for a couple of things -- the closing of John Kresse Arena, and the team's run to the semifinals of the Southern Conference tournament. Coach Bobby Cremins' club closed up shop at Kresse Arena with a rousing 77-59 win over Furman, then followed that up with two straight victories in the Southern Conference tournament before falling in the semifinals. Now the excitement comes over the fact that the team will open a new venue next year with all five starters returning, including freshman sensation Andrew Goudelock, who had the highest-scoring freshman season of any player in College of Charleston's Division I history. The only possible change in the near future could be Cremins, who will be 61 before next season begins. After 26 seasons, Cremins might be looking for the end of his career, but most observers don't believe that will happen anytime soon. Copyright (C) 2008 The Sports Xchange. All Rights Reserved.
