March Memories

Posted on: March 26, 2008 6:11 pm

In the spirit of March Madness, I'd love to hear everyone's favorite March Madness Memory (or MMM lol). I haven't been a college basketball fan for too long, but a few years ago I realized the error of my ways:

I was at a church function held at one of my friend's house. It was the elite eight game between Michigan State and Kentucky. I am a Tennessee fan de jure, therefore a Kentucky fan de facto, as a result of my overall SEC fandom. Anyway, Kentucky went on to lose the game but the shot by Patrick Sparks to send it to overtime produced a hollywood-esque sports moment that has only been replicated by the David Tyree catch in the superbowl. The second he launched the three everyone went hushed. It hit the rim once, bounced again, bounced one more time, and sank. When it did, the whole room erupted. It was great. Ever since then, despite being generally a bigger football fan than basketball fan, I have considered March madness to be the single greatest sporting event in the world.

Well thanks for checking out my blog! I can't wait to read about other fan's MMM's!
