here is the latest nba post on the kobe mvp thing.. .again. why does no one just believe me that they gave him a lifetime achievement award this year... sigh

Andrew Bynum went down on Jan 13/08 at which point the Lakers were 25 - 11. they signed Pau Gasol on Feb 1/08 at which time they were 29 - 16. so they were 4 - 5 after Bynum went down leaving Kobe to carry the team losing to the Cavaliers, the Mavericks, the Pistons, the Spurs and the Suns pre shaq i believe. they knew they needed to fill a huge hole in the front court. that was the streak Kobe Bryant had 10 games over 30 points to keep afloat.

After Pau arrived, they went 28 - 9 to close the year in first over all. was Kobe the only reason? was Pau the only reason? not at all. this team has quickly developed a tight atmosphere around it as they all are comfortable playing Phil Jackson basketball. Gasol needed to move out of the low post and is a nightmare to defend. Derek Fisher has regained the touch he has always had and given kobe the back court mate he can trust again.

Now I am not going to sit here and argue with you that the Hornets would be the same calibur team without Chris Paul but to downplay Kobe Bryant with the Lakers is ridiculous.  Just how many games do you think the Lakers would have won without Kobe on the team?  Probably as many as the Hornets without Chris Paul.

the fact that Kobe played in every game this year makes this hard to determine, but the Hornets were 1 - 1 with Paul out of the lineup. I am saying that Kobe deserved an mvp, just not this year. the Lakers made some great moves and were rewarded on the floor. to me, the biggest was Derek Fisher.

just some thoughts and of course, it's just my opinion...
