Rock, that is quite a trio........

They were all amazing shows, MHG.  There was a little storefront bar in Tampa in the early 80s called the Peanut Gallery where I saw Hooker and taylor (in separate shows).  B.B. played a blues festival a few miles from my house for a couple of years.  I helped a buddy of mine at his beer concession, so I got in to see the shows free and also got all the beer I could drink!

Currently spinning in my cd changer:

1.  Def Leppard - Songs from the Sparkle Lounge (It's DL's new CD and I can't tell you how impressed I am with it.  You'd think these guys would slow down but the CD sounds fresh and all but the silly Tim McGraw track are worth listening to over and over).

2.  Butch Walker - Letters (Butch has produced and written for a lot of pop/rock artists recently, but his solo material is killer.  IMO, he's the best rock vocalist of the current generation.  Better than Dave Grohl, even.  The guy has some pipes).

3.  REO Speedwagon - Find Your Own Way Home (Ok, so I like my classic rock.  This is another new CD from a classic rock group, and it doesn't disappoint.  I saw REO and Def Leppard in Vegas not too long ago, and they both blew the roof off the Palms).

4 - 6:  Mix CD's with old school Rolling Stones, Heart, Smashing Pumpkins, Aerosmith, and a local (now national) band from nearby St. Louis, Ludo (www.ludorock.com).

-While this one, Exile On Main St,, didn't spawn any big hits, it's as solid a Stones album as yer likely to hear-  truly great from start to finish...

DF, I would say that Exile On Main Street is almost a template for creating an album of rootsy, guitar-crunching rock.  How many album reviews have you read that cmpared the band to "Exile-era Stones"?  I think if you read my post on the Deadstring Brothers from earlier  tonight, you will see an example of this.

You know it Bricker! Martin & Lewis. Hope & Crosby. Rowen & Martin.  Brick & Sky!

I got somethin special cookin up too.

Meanwhile

I kinda forget about the What Are You Listening To?

Blue Oyster Cult - Fire of Unknown Origin (1981)

I know this group takes alot of cheap shots. Especially after that very funny "More Cowbell" SNL skit.  I have always liked BOC though. Helluva preforming band in their day. Lyrics superior to any heavy metal band imho. Often reffered to as the "Thinking mans heavy metal band." Lasers, the kronos sign, motorcycles on stage, and where else can you find Lyrics like:

np: Joan Crawford

Junkies down in Brooklyn are going crazy
They're laughing just like hungry dogs in the street
Policemen are hiding behind the skirts of little girls
Their eyes have turned the color of frozen meat

No, no no no, no no no no no no no no,
Joan Crawford has risen from the grave
