Hello Yank, Cleve, Colts, Mrjt, and anyone I might have missed.

Been working in the yard; it's a gorgeous day outside, going to reach the upper 70s, great day to be outside digging in the dirt.  Just came in for a water break and to touch base with you guys,  Been listening to Doug Sahm, then Delbert McClinton.  Now Playing:

Gear Daddies:  Let's Go Scare Al

A jangly guitar band that was greatly influenced by the Byrds' harmonies but had tougher lyrics, the Gear Daddies attracted some attention in the late 1980s and early '90s. Let's Go Scare Al, one of their best albums, is a fine representation of their attractive, melodic sound and above-average lyrics, which are often clever and humorous in a world-weary way. Especially thought-provoking is "Statue of Jesus," which finds a man questioning whether or not religion is really making life's difficulties any easier. Meanwhile, the Gear Daddies are content to simply be funny on "Drank So Much (Just Feel Stupid)." Country is an obvious influence on the folk-rockers (as it was on the Byrds), and they don't hesitate to employ touches of the Nashville sound on twangy cuts like "She's Happy," "Heavy Metal Boyz" and the lonely "Strength." Fans of this type of music owe it to themselves to search for this CD.

Morning, Jonny.

Seriously, this Gear Daddies album is fantastic.  Any fan of Roots Rock or Americana or even Heartland Rock like Michael Stanley or John Mellencamp owes it to themselves to seek this out.

Forever Young   Bob Dylan

This is one of my favorites by the former Robert Zimmerman. This is the version from The Last Waltz so the back up musicians are pretty fabulous too.

RockFlorida,

Good morning to you.

Where in G'ville is Elton plating? The football stadium? That's where I saw Dylan and The Band many years ago. Or is he playing at the O Dome?

Good Morning All!

I'm streaming last.fm's progressive rock category again while I work today.

Rush...Vital Signs was up first.

Now:  Jethro Tull...Thick as a Brick.  This could take a while!

Skate Away - Dire Straits.

Seeing as how I just changed my AV to Mr. Knopfler (Lennon can happily represent for himself now) it's coincidental that this tune is now playing on sirius.

From the Making Movies album.  This is my favorite Dire Straits studio release.  It starts out with Tunnel of Love (enhanced by the famiar organ sound of E-Streeter Roy Bittan) and then flows into Romeo and Juliet (easily one of my top 5 favorite songs of all time).  Skate away follows that.  Expresson love, hand in hand, solid rock, and Les Boys round out the album.

The disc only contains 7 tracks, but they are all stellar (with the possible exception of Les Boys).
