$500,000 as a back up 1B/PH.  I will take some of those homers and a .490 OBP he posted last year.  He would have to humble himself to the very low end payment wise.  It would be nice if we were ever to have carnival days.  Main attraction.....

If we were an AL team, definately.

For the Mets, NO. Alou and Bonds in the OF would hurt our pitchers. Beltran is fast but he would be all alone out there.

As a bench player, YES. But I dont think Bonds would go for that. And the last thing we need is an unhappy Barry in the locker room.

Oh God No!! We have a nice mixture of youth & experience, why would we ruin that balance with a roid' raging cluhouse cancer like Bonds. Have you guys seen the reports coming out of SF? They're not expected to do much but they're so much happier and now the number one rule is, good or bad everyone gets treated the same.

I agree with metsflunky though and think we should hire him for the carnival. Do they do drug testing on the guy who sits above the water dunk tank?

Simple answer no. After the collapse last year, do the Mets really need that kind of constant distraction. Not to mention he could only be used as a pinch hitter on the Mets, you can't put both Alou and Bonds in the OF at the same time. Let the Yankees overpay for him to fill in the DH hole, they love roid rage sluggers over there.

This is a no brainer because the answer these days will always be NO!  Maybe back in his days of being a speedier player rather than a power hitter after he joined the Giants, but not this Barroid.  He has two bad knees, and in a park like Shea, you need fresher legs that can handle the work (still deciding on whether Alou should have been brought back or not).  Also he would throw off the chemisty in the locker room, because he has the idea that the world revolves around him (do you remember his tv show?). I hope he doesn't get any deal from any teams, but instead manages to work out a deal with the government because things really aren't looking to pretty for him right now.

Absolutely not.  Three reasons, all of them already mentioned in the above postings:

1. He can't play in the outfield anymore and he'd be too expensive as a pure pinch hitter.

2. Clubhouse cancer.  The Mets don't need another Bobby Bonilla.

3. Steroids.  Everybody on the current roster is clean (as far as we know).  Why change that?

No way!  The guy would be a cancer to team just like he is a cancer to the game.  Can you imagine him and the NY press?
