Has anyone noticed how weak Sam Dalembert has been playing lately? All he wants to do is shoot 15 ft jumpers as if he is the 2nd coming of Chris Webber. The 76ers need a strong presence in the post from their center position if they are going to make the playoffs. Other than alley-oops or stick back layups, he seems to be lost out there. When your point guard (Andre Miller) can post up better than your center you're going to have problems. I thought Moses Malone was brought in to mentor Sammy. He appears to be weak when someone is bringing the game to him. Hopefully he'll prove me wrong. because I'm tired of seeing Dwight Howard dunkin' on Sammy's head posterizing him.

sam has always been inconsistent....he'll go through stretches where he will almost seem invisible...but then he will have a few weeks where he's a legit 20-20 threat...although this is one of the longer slumps he's had in recent years, i have no doubt that he will pick it up...also there are not as many shots for him to take as there were when Reggie Evans was starting (thad is becoming a straight baller) so most of his points are going to come on alley-oops and putbacks...what he needs to do for the sixers to continue this unexpected playoff push is to play good post defense and rebound well

I mean I don't get why so many people hate on Dalembert.  I mean 10ppg 10rpg is pretty good.  Sure he goes on stretches where he really struggles, but what player doesn't?  He is an above average Center in the NBA.  Is that really so bad?

Na, Dalmbert sux. I have been saying this since they drafted him. The Sixers need to dump him and draft a physical center.

He is an above average defensive center, and a below average offensive center.. so i guess that leaves  you somewhere in the middle..Sams offensive game really hasnt gotten any better in a few years i would say..It is a tough call for me if the perimeter players keep coming along i dont think that we will have to worry about him too much..I think he will be in the shadow of them which is probably just where he wants to be..

I agree that the Sixers need to get a physical center. Somehow Billy King thought that Dalembert deserved a contract worth $10 mil a year. Every year I keep waiting for this guy to blossom or at least show that he is worthy of that contract, and as of right now it doesn't appear like it is going to happen. As I said before, Moses Malone needs to get in his ear/face and stay there until this 6'11 softee toughens up his game. The NBA right now is very weak at the center position so there is no excuse for Sammy's performance.

Sam's stats don't really tell the whole picture.  He plays good against bad teams with no center, and is nonexistent against good teams.  He gets large rebounding numbers in some games, and then disappears.  He has no game, he isn't an intimidator under the basket against big men, and is often out of position.  He has no shot on offense, and can't even make a simple pass to another teammate.  Why they gave this guy all that money is beyond me.  Like I've said in other posts, they should blow this team up and start from scratch because they have few parts to the puzzle on this team.  They had four draft picks in the 2007 draft and did little to help their team.  That being said what can you expect from a middle of the pack first rounder, like most of the slop on this team.  Good luck to Eddie and Mo.

Well said "crp". Did you see this guy against Golden State last night? Chris Webber, whom  happens to be washed up went to Sam's ass during the 3rd period and Mo Cheeks decided to sit him in the 4th. Hopefully sooner than later this BUM will discover that he has a pair and will go out and play like it. Tomorrow he'll face Shaq & Amare. I cringe just thinking what Sam has planned for them!

Does anyone happen to notice that Sammy seems to be lost out there? Rasheed Wallace is killing him. Daily News Live ran a clip of him saying a couple of years ago that he could shut Wallace down. I think Wallace caught wind of Sam's statement and is going to torch him for it. Hopefully I'm wrong because the Sixers need more than 4ppg from Sammy. His presence on the lower blocks is a must. I don't think that the DNL crew running that piece did Dalembert and Sixers any favors. Hopeully playing the next 2 games in Philly will result in a better performance from Sam.

When the Pistons have Wallace, Maxiel, McDyess, Johnson -- and we're answering with Dalembert and Evans -- the result is gonna be a beating. At least with Jason Smith on the floor we get some height, but no experience. His 20 minutes in game 2 was an improvement -- but what about Shavlick Randolph at 6'10''? Are we saving him for something special? At least he could get up and in the way -- block some shots, get some boards -- even Tayshaun Prince was rebounding over Evans back -- And Evans with his zero offensive skill - can't shoot, catch, pass or make a foul shot -- is such a liability that he turns it into a 5 on 4 most of the time.  His rebound #'s would be cut by a third if his own missed layups didn't count. Or if people weren't forced to heave up a bunch of bad shots when he's on the floor...I hope Mo Cheeks will get a bit more creative with his line-up -- but I have my doubts...
