How good is this Lowrie kid -

	I read something of this kid being the future SS,but is being block by Julio "The Hack" Lugo,how much longer will it be before this kid unseats Lugo.

	A lot of good things are being said about Jed Lowrie; people are most impressed with his hitting, and his fielding is only supposed to be about average with the potential to be above average. I don't think we'll see him supplanting Julio Lugo this year, Lugo is making a lot of money which makes it hard to either sit him or trade him away. I also believe that the Red Sox want to see how Lowrie adapts during his 2nd year at AAA ball. If Lowrie has a great season I expect to see him as a September call up who could see time if Lugo struggles again this year (think like how Jacboy Ellsbury played instead of Coco Crisp at the end of last season). As long as Lugo as an average season I don't see Lowrie making a jump this year, no next year will be the year when Red Sox management will take a longer look at Lowrie taking Lugo's place on the field.

	Lowrie should be up by the end of the year as a utility man and would compete for the SS position next year. Remember Pedroia was supposed to be a SS as well and they moved him to 2B and Lowrie is the same type of player so he could be trade bait for a front line starter of Colon, Schilling, or Bucholtz don't pan out.

	Lowrie looks very good...gonna be as good a hitter as Pedroia but the Sox should not be rushing him up to the Majors too soon...he's solid in the field but doesn't have the speed, glove or range of Lugo...also Lugo's bat ain't so bad...and you gotta love a guy that will steal at least 30 this year

	Jed Lowrie will be an early maybe mid june call up, id lake to see francona take power and bench Julio Lugo if he cant produce. I was always against giving a mediocre at best player 9 or whatever he sis making a year. Lowrie has good numbers in double look for him to be like ellsbury and fly through the minor leagues.

	As long as Lowrie can improve his fielding, he'll be the starting SS for 2009, but Lugo's got the position on lockdown for '08.
