Sooner Magic --- Nice call on RAY SCOTT! He was from the old school where less was more and didn't blab all the time like tv announcers do now. "Starr - -- Hornung --- TD"
Don't laugh - but Harry Caray and Jimmy Piersall were a dynamite team together with the White Sox long before the travesty at Wrigley. Caray was all over the players and if you didn't come thru in the clutch it would go like this: Melton POPPED IT UP!!!!
Chris SIngleton who is going from Sox radio booth to ESPN is bad -- maybe he will get better - but YIKES right now.

I forgot Gumble and Madden when it came to worst, Gumble is knowledgeable but has the personality of a rug, and I am so sick of Madden's tired act (boom,tough guy,).
Someone on this actually admits they like Jon Miller, their taste is all in their mouth.
Don't know if Wayne Hagin is still doing baseball, but he was good when the Rockies started out, Vinny still the best even if he has aged.

I have NBA league pass so I see a lot of these local announcers and they're all homers to a certian extent but the absolute biggest one without a doubt is Tommy Heinson. If i'm watching a Celts game I have to turn the sound down because he's just too unbearable. Another one I can't stomach is Joel Meyers with the Lakers, I like Stu Lantz but Meyers makes me sick. A couple I do like are Kevin Calabro of the Sonics and poor Ralph Lawler of the Clips--BINGOOOO!!!!!!!

there are a few i cant stand joe buck, jon sterling and worst of all dan patrick. patrick is probually the most anoying man in sports. i would rather listen to my grandmother talk about sports

Bob Uecker he has a great voice and he's stuck with the Brewers through all the losing seasons.

John Madden annoys me. I remember earlier this year he was talking about Big Ben and he said something like " Ben's hands are wet but he can't dry them off because his jersey is also wet."

my favs include gus johnson from the ncaa tourney he called the ohio state vs xavier game...wow hes good
i also like ian eagle from the yes network and he does football for cbs sometimes..he gets into it
the worst includes joe buck.. i hate when he does like every sport and he thinks he is good at it...and tony kornhouser < i dont know how to spell

Vin Scully is one of the best-" 2 on - 2 out- 2-2 count - dueces are wild ".
Chris Schenkel as mentioned above was great on the NBA with his "gooooooooood' call on a made basket. Also was good on ABC's wide world of sports.

Oh this is Simple, Charles Davis hands down, the absolute worst, a never was, poor announcer on the Golf Channel in orlando, I was saddened to see him on this years BCS ,and he absolutely sucked it up on this years Natioinal Championship game. He is the worse, evidnetly he played, and that seems to be the point he is belabouring ALL night, Yeah, insight is good, begging for attention, is annoying.
He sucks on theNFL channel as well, so one stinking point for consistency...LOL

Ron Santo was one of my favorite players but I don't think he should be allowed near a broadcast booth.
Steve Stone on the other hand was intelligent, witty, and said what often needed to be said contrary to the rampant homerism that exists and that was one reason why he was shown the exit door.

Bill Walton is the only announcer that can actually ruin the NCAA tournament. He is horrible!!! Charles Barkely is not a great announcer, but he is interesting to listen to.

There are a lot of really good announcers...and they are at their best when they stay within their sports. Not a fan of the crossovers. Fortunately there are a only a few. Baseball - Harry Kalas over Jack or Joe Buck. The Gunner Bob Prince wasn't too bad - I'm going back for most of you. Can't leave out Vin Scvully either. Football - Al Michaels...that's where he is best. Basketball - who cares. They are all overrated...I'd rather watch hoops with the sound down. Hockey - Mike Lange (Radio - Penguins). Noone better. He makes you feel as if you are there and his 'catch phases' after goals - priceless. Golf - Nance...I have to say, I'm a fan of Johnny Miller's too - even though most of the players hate him! The worst announcers...Theismann was so annoying and Madden's Shtick is stale! Don Cherry - A # 1 hole!!! Hates American teams and players. Not a Tim McCarver fan. Hoops - see above.

Joe Buck is one of the greats! He has a great wit and always brings excitement to the game. He will be missed on the Cardinals local broadcasts this year.
Now, the woman on the Yankee broadcasts is horrible! She has got to go!
