You could make an arguement for T-Mac to be in the top 5. Before I read your posting, all the other players that you mentioned came to mind before T-Mac.
I'm biased, so I have KG #1 on my list. Chris Paul second. LeBron third. Kobe fourth.
I'm not on the bandwagon just yet, but there seems to be a ton of people that would put Brandon Roy in MVP contention. Maybe not so much now, but definitely when the Blazers were streaking earlier in the season. And you can't forget about Deron Williams, despite having Carlos Boozer as a teammate... he's damn good as well. So I'd put Williams in the mix.
But now with Yao out for the season, if the Rockets keep winning like they are, I'm sure T-Mac's MVP stock will continue to rise. Top 5??? Quite possibly so.
But to be honest, LeBron should win MVP honors over everyone. It's really not even close. Take away Garnett, the Celtics went 7-2 without him. They don't need him to be a good team.
Cleveland would be nothing without LeBron. There is just no other player right now that means as much to the success of their team as LeBron. Not even Kobe. (Odom, Gasol... you get the point.) But LeBron James is the Cleveland Cavaliers, they'd be nothing without him. That's the definition of MVP to me.
