Absolutely right. Terrible, lazy, uninformed, and irresponsible article from Mike Freeman. The thing that makes his article so blatantly idiotic is that if someone were to tell you that one of the top 2 or 3 finalists for Player of the Year is the starting center for the #1 team in the country, averages 23 points and 10 rebounds a game, shoots 81% from the FT line, shoots over 50% from the field, has broken multiple records at Carolina as a junior, and didn't tell you his skin color - it wouldn't seem odd by any means at all that the guy being described was in fact one of two frontrunner for POY. Freeman's article makes no sense. It is about the stupidist thing I have read on this site this year. That says a lot because Gregg Doyel also writes for this website.
Mike Freeman lazily wrote an article that he thought would generate controversy and as a result, lots of attention. He succeeded there. But you know what? That is the easiest thing in the world to do in this day and age because of all the sensitivities in our society . There are about a thousand controversial things people can say to a rise out of others. By saying one of them, Freeman showed what a bad sports writer he really is. It's the lazy way of sports journalism. CBS should give someone else a shot. There are lots of good writers out there.
