This guy is just on a complete tear. What's more impressive is that he's doing it after the ream's "1b" (best or second best based on your opinion) player went out with a season ending injury. He truly makes his teammates better. The issue is that the NBA marketing machine (which markets players rather than teams---See Jordan article in ESPN the Magazine) has already invested in hopes in Kobe and Lebron. But tell me, hasn't T-Mac's leadership etc, been more impressive than Kobe or Lebron's? Again the NBA marketing machine will discard T-Mac as soon as the Rockets lose a game. But realize that the Rockets play in the the most competitive divsion. I think it's a shame of what the NBA has come to. The MVP award is being treated as if it were an election (see Kobe v. Lebron Debates on Espn shows, polls ,etc) Like politics, the Nba MVP is all about "who got you last." I have no doubt that ESPN will make a deal out of Lebron having a triple double tonight. (Got you last) Beleive me, they were hoping Kobe hit that last second shot to add more fire to the debate. This award is being marketing more than the outstanding and competitve play of the west and the ressurection of the Celtic fanchise. All I'm saying is that T-Mac should be getting his exposure just like the others. Yeah, he hasn't won a playoff series, but neither has Kobe since the Deisel left.

Hey if you're railing against the marketing machine - you're only adding fueling to the fire with MVp chatter. If you have been watching the team lately it's a team effort. Lose the MVP chant and root for your team man. You're not his agent are you? Then see the big picture.
ROOT FOR YOUR TEAM MAN!
Who gives a flying F about MVP.

T-Mac has had a fine year and he's been huge pulling this team together the past 10 games or so but make no mistake he's a distant 4th or 5th in the MVP race this season. I myself have to go with Kobe considering his teams record, his overall numbers are better then T-Macs and he's a better defender not to mention he has a injured shooting hand, Lebrons had a monster season aswell on offense carrying his team to 3 out of 4 victories almost single handedly this past week. Chris Paul and Kevin Garnett pull up the 3rd and 4th spots.
P.s. If Kobe had Yao Ming he would have won a playoff series or two believe in that, maybe even a championship. It'll be interesting to see which Rockets club shows up come the post season.

Decada, I know Kobe's your guy. See my previous post regarding his hand injury. It's funny you bring Yao up. That's an injury that you debate whether or not to shut it down. Kobe, again, it's part of his marketing(his/Lakers/NBA) to get him this MVP award. Kobe's team only has a 1 game lead over T-Mac's. T-Mac lost arguably(according who you ask) his teams best player. Kobe lost Bynum, gained a high quality replacement, and had a good road trip against the East, although it was against the lesser teams. It's also funny that you bring up KG and CP3: Here's where your argument for Kobe sputters.
- CP3 can still lead his team to the best record in the West. It's very possible that they will finish better than the Lakers. Where was his team last year? Oh yeah, they didn't even make the playoffs. Plus they're playing in front of a half-filled stadium. Finally, you can't say it's the comp because they play in the west.
- KG is a key piece to the ressurrection of the Celtics Franchise. Oh yeah, that team didn't make the playoffs last year and will very likely end up with the best record in the league. Plus, didn't they tap the Laker's *** twice this year? So you can't say this team is weak because they play in the East.
- Kobe a better defender? All I see is oppossing back court players walking to the basket against him and Fisher, etc. Don't tell me you don't see this. He plays defense in spurts. Let's be clear, he ain't no Ron Artest. Lebron walked all over him and D'd him up on his home court on NATIONAL TV!!!!!!!! Plus, how's Kobe done head to head against Lebron this year. I tell you. Lebron D'd him up and Kobe missed a last second shot. And you guessed it, LJ hit the game winner.
- So I invite you again to really re-read my post. I'm not even a Houston Rocket fan. All I'm saying is that the league does not hand out 19 game winning streaks.
- Also read that Jordan article in ESPN the MAG (written by Ric Buchar) It totally displays what the NBA is all about.
- Kobe's injury. Again don't get me started. Yao, now that's a real injury. Iverson has a fracture but you don't see reports going on and on about it. Let's talk about Nene. This guy was suffering from Cancer, a life threatening disease, and you never hear the league talk about it. That's too real for the league. Yet the critics can talk about Denver and how they haven't lived up to their potential.
- Kobe and Yao win a playoff series? Are you sure? Kobe has yet to win without the Diesel. Hate it or love it but that's a fact!!!!!!

TMAC is in the MVP talk, now. However, in order to even have a shot at MVP he'd need to have his team finish in the top 3. I'm a huge TMAC fan and I can see all that he has done in Houston the past two years with Yao out for extensive periods of time. Last year, he kept his team in 5th and got homecourt in the first series while Yao was out. He has amazing stats; cause he had to. This year, he has helped move the team from 7th with Yao to 3rd without him and one game from 1st. He has less stats and more leadership and defense, cause he doesn't need the stats with this team. One day he may score, another day he may dish; he does whatever the teams needs on a given night. This is clearly MVP material.
When I talk about MVP I look at three things: stats, wins, and expectations.
With TMAC his stats are poorer than Kobe and Lebron; his wins are better than Lebron and damn close to Kobe; the expectation is the major factor. Most felt the Rockets would miss the playoffs without Yao. They haven't even lost a game yet. Seven in a row without Yao. That is impressive. So in the expectation category, TMAC is higher than Kobe; as Kobe is expected to be the top team in the West. However, he is probably equal to Lebron in the expectation category; assuming Lebron gets his team to at least the top 3 spot in the East and TMAC is at the top 3 spot.
So right now, I think the trophy is between TMAC and Lebron with Lebron having the edge right now; due to much better stats. If Lebron's team doesn't capture 3rd seed and TMAC's team captures a seed 3 or above, I think that moves TMAC above Lebron. Otherwise, I think TMAC would have to have the top seed in the West to take it away from Lebron.
I think Chris Paul would need to regain a top 3 spot in the West to keep tops in the MVP discussion. I think KG lost his essense when they won easily without him. So although KG is great; I do not think he is any longer a top four candidate. Instead it is Lebron, TMAC, Kobe, and Paul in that order.
