I agree with you phillyfan on the aspect that we need a number one receiver. i hope that we would all agree with that. but when you talked about getting a receiver in the draft that could be our number one i would have to disagree on a couple points. first look at Calvin Johnson he was one of the greatest receivers to come out of the draft in the last several years and he really did not make a big impact until this past season. Also look at the draft class this year. I personally do not see any Calvin Johnson's or more simply i do not see any player that i feel could have the impact that we need to them to have now. maybe several years down the road but my feeling is yes we need to look down the road but we also need to look for right now i mean some of our keys players are getting older and we need to look to create a super bowl caliber team soon. But i agree that we need some help at the WR position.

scn4224-

you do realize Calvin J has only been in the league 1 year. also, it was reported by Mike Martz that he serioulsy hurt his back in week 3 and played hurt the rest of the year. so by your logic,  a highly rated rookie WR (injured no less) CAN make an impact (see- D Bowe (KC), Calvin J (DET)).

let's face it, no stud WR coming to town. I think we should keep Lito (unless R williams, a boldin, or the like is made avaible via trade), and draft Doucet, Hardy, or manningham (whomever is still there @ the 50th pick (think thats ours)). The first round, noway draft any of these guys at 19. The difference between Kelly or Jackson (mid-first rounders) and Doucet, Hardy, or Manningham (early- to mid-second rounders).

No way should we pay Hackett or Darnell Jackson #1 $$$ when these rookies could make an impact close to what FAs are still around. Let's see what Reggie Brown can do with a healthy LJ Smith and McNabb. We had sky high hopes for our receiving corp last year, but, then again, we had high hopes for the whole offense, no?

What would you guys think of possibly trading for L. Coles? I hear him and the Jets are having contract issues... maybe if we traded for him and brought him to a winning team he would enjoy himself.  he isn't a top flight receiver, but he is better than anyone we have right now... and i think he still has a few years left in his engine...

what do you guys think?

I guess Darrell Jackson is pretty underrated huh? Coles has had maybe 1 or 2 1,000 yd seasons. And never scored more than 6-8 tds. Jackson performed very well when he played for a successful pass first offense. (See '05-'06 Seahawks) when they went to the Super Bowl. He has played in San Francisco for 2 years. I think that in itself explains the slump. Look at Moss in Oakland and now in NE. And by no means am I saying Jackson is in the same league as Moss, but he could turn it around just the same with a good team.

Yeah i'm with ya eagles08, i think a change of scenery with a team that has a chance could spark something in ANY player.  Randy Moss was unhappy with losing and being surrounded by inferior players with the RaidersDarrell Jackson has also been surrounded by inconsistancy these past 2 years with the 49ers.  If he had the chance to join an Eagles offense that was already ranked in the top 10 without him, he may step up and give us a boost.  I wouldn't be mad if they signed him to a low ball 1 or 2 year deal.  Something similar to another ex-Seahawks receiver, D.J. Hackett.

The Eagles arent going to get Roy Williams and we arent getting Chad Johnson, Bengals wont give up chad and Roy isnt leaving detriot. It isnt happening. The only realistic option open, and only to look at, would be Darrell Jackson, since hes now a Free Agent. There arent any other open receivers on other teams for us worth looking at. Untill the bengals actually RELEASE Chad, keep dreaming, like the rest of us...
