I'm an Oregon fan (and while I'm happy we got an invite to play in March), and I think it's a downright travesty that Arizona St. didn't get invited to the NCAA tournament.
Largely it was due to their perceived lack of quality non-conference schedule, but probably just as much to do with not winning a game in the conference tournament. However, we all know you were jobbed by the Southern California officiating crew. Everyone knows there is a bias to keep those teams in the national spotlight, and you guys have played hard all year and to have it come down to that is just sickening.
Pac-10 officials in football/basketball are the worst. Fire 'em all--starting at the top.
Do some damage in the NIT. You guys are my favorite to win it all. Sorry it's not what you wanted.

yea it is ridiculous that the 6th and 7th place teams make it to the tournament and the 5th place team does not. i just do not understand how they let it happen?

Im a Sun Devil fan and i think they didnt get in because they lost 10 of their last 15 games. Simple as that. They werent good enough to get in. And knowing they needed some wins, they won 1 game in their final 4 quality conference games. Oregon State wasnt a quality team.

Parlaycard, I think technically you are correct as to why the Sun Devils aren't playing. But in my opinion I thought you guys had a pretty good resume. Nobody in the bottom half of the Pac played well down the stretch, we were all murdering each other.
But scoring me a 1 for coming on your boards and defending your team is just stupid. Sorry to offer my condolences, you can just be bitter for all I care. To all the other Sun Devil fans, do so NIT damage and make the selection committee regret putting Kentucky or Baylor in the mix instead of you guys.

I don't agree with us being left out, but it is what it is. We are the team being talked about as the biggest snub on both CBS and ESPN. As long as the team gets over its initial disappointment, we have a great shot at winning the NIT. We should have everyone from the rotation back next year, when we can really make some noise. I'll take some comfort in sweeping the Rats and letting their classless fans embarrass themselves here.

According to Tom O'Connor, the NCAA Selection committee chairman, Arizona State did not deserve to be in.
These are the points that he made:
- Arizona State's RPI of 82 would be the highest RPI for an at-large ever
- Arizona State's strength of schedule was very bad because of the poor non-conference schedule, which is what I have been saying for the past few days.
- They were 2-7 against UCLA, Stanford, Washington State, and Southern Cal- the top 4 teams in the Pac-10.
Those are all valid points, but I am curious to find out why he chose Baylor, Villanova, or South Alabama ahead of Arizona State.

Thanks Jla3490. It does suck that Georgia had to win and take up another possible spot, and that shitty call by the Pac-10/USC ref at the end of the game, but whatever. We'll be back next year.

I don't know about ASU being back. They did not have a very good recruiting class this next year compared to Arizona (#2 recruiting class).
About the officials, you could say the same thing about Arizona getting jobbed against Stanford (Budinger clean block) at McKale.

Jla, you forgot 2 important things in you earlier post. The 2 losses to ASU. How does a team with a worse season and conference record suddenly move into the tourney? It's called Lute making some "calls" to his friends. Wouldn't want to break that tourney appearance streak would we? Congrats!

Hey, we might not have made the NCAA tourney but we are in the NIT and thats better than not playing in the post season at all. Let all the fans of the team from down south say what they want. We beat 'em twice this year. When was the last time that happened? GO DEVILS!
