Texas is going to have a hard time reaching the region final, because Stanford in the Sweet 16 is a bad matchup for the Longhorns. Stanford has two 7-foot NBA big men in twins Brook and Robin Lopez, and Texas will try to counter with 6-10 Connor Atchley and 6-7 Damion James. That's not good for Texas, which will have to hope its superior backcourt can overcome its inferior frontcourt.
Yeah but are the Lopez Twins going to be able and guard James and Atchley out on the perimeter? Besides size doesn't mean a thing too James. The dude has a 36' vertical leap!
We Also got the "D'Train" Dextar Pittman, who i expect would see alot of minutes in that game.
Texas!> >> >> >> Fight!

Let me see if I got this right .... Texas can't beat Stanford because of their "twin towers", but Texas did beat UCLA, who in turn beat Stanford three times this year. Is that it? I don't see any 7-footers on UCLA's team either. Some how Stanford figured out a way to lose 7 games this year. I'm sure some of the teams they lost to were not as strong as Texas is (oh yeah, like Siena).

As the old saying goes:
You live by the three you die by the three. We've seen it before in the Tourney: A team that can bomb the three ball and won during the season playing that way never comes up big in the Tourney. When you get cold from behind the arc and don't have anything to go to inside you're in trouble. A 3 ball team wins a game or two shooting it lights out then they start to go cold. They have no inside or middle range game to go to and they get beat down. How'd that 3 point shooting perimeter team work out for them against Kansas yesterday? No inside game = no wins in big games.
On a side note Texas should have been a 3 seed. They couldn't win their Conference Tourney and Wisconsin did so Wisconsin #2 and Texas #3 seed would make sense. (eventhough the Big 10 is a joke)

There is no way Texas is anything less than a 2 seed. If you actually WATCHED the Texas/Kansas game, you should have been convinced that both teams were 1 seeds. Kansas hit nearly 30 three's and Texas still had a lead with 4 minutes to go. Wisconsin, maybe should've been a 2 seed, but there is no way Texas is a 3. And the Big Ten is horrible, absolutely dreadful. I don't care what kind of style you think they play in the Big Ten, but at half time of the Big XII Championship game it was 46-45 and with about 10 minutes to go in the Big Ten game, it was about the same score and it wasn't because of good defense or a "bruising style," It was because they have horrible basketball TALENT and they can hit a jump shot on a rim that's six feet wide. (Believe me, I know, I'm an Indiana fan)

also, what I do not get is, if it is going to be difficult for a really good Memphis team to beat Texas in Houston, why is it going to be any different for a lesser Stanford team to beat Texas? Also, of the twins, only Brook can do anything to heart Texas offensively, and Texas will hurt them back with James and Atchley hitting 3's all day with the twins not custom to defending that far away from the rim.

There is something you have to understand. Kansas had to play their best game, ever, to beat Texas and they did. I think Texas has a great shot at the final 4. Barring any cinderella or miracle upset, Texas gets past the first 2 rounds and heads to Houston for the regional semis and finals. Houston is like Austin's backyard. Alot can be said for home court advantage. Ask Mich St. when they played Texas in Mich.
However, Texas is going to take it one game at a time. Can Texas go on a six game winning streak? Yes. Texas started the year with an 11 game winning streak then had an 8 game winning streak. So, a six game winning streak is not far fetched. Mind you, in that 11 game winning streak, they beat Tennessee and UCLA at, UCLA.

Not only do Horns play regionals in Houston
(possibly against Stanford/Kentucky and Memphis)
We then move on to San Antonio,
which is actually closer to Austin (than Houston is).
Potential opponent? UCLA.
Remember: We beat them in Los Angeles this year.
Imagine what we can do in the home state in front of a home crowd.
