Its just one game to a quality opponent. TN has a great Top 50 record. I actually thought they got screwed dropping to the last 2 seed, and having to play NC in NC.
WIth the lost to Arkansas they got seeded as the 4th best 2 seed, and the polls at this point really don't really mean a thing. They had a #1 RPI and the #1 SOS and is the 4 best two seed so the lost hurt them more than you think.
This is how TN dont drop more than one spot, ARK is a 22 game winner, a number 8 seed in the NCAA's (underrated by far) they shot over 55%, as well as TN shooting over 55%, so the people voting said well....ARK played great, and so did TN, we cant punish a team, that Has beat Memphis, Xavier, Vandy, Gonzaga, just to name a few.
I guess maybe you are right. They did kinda get punished by having to play NC to get to the final 4. Not the idiot part. There is no need for insults. Lets keep this on an i.q. level above 70, please.
All I am saying is that Texas was 6 and lost to number 5 and move down 3 spots. Tennessee beats Memphis when Memphis is number 1 and only moves down one spot. Why are you going to count past losses sometimes and then not count past losses other times.
And you are right about another thing. These last rankings don't mean a thing. Get a 6 game winning streak in the tournament, and you are national champion. period.
Yes, in a year where there is no clear better than everyone else team, both Tennessee and Texas have a good shot. UT will earn it and so will Texas. I don't like playing Louisville then NC in the 16-8 round. Oh well, it is what it is, can't change it. If they deserve to win it all they have to beat teams like that.
Tennessee has the #1 RPI and the #1 Schedule Strength. They beat Memphis at Memphis for #1 and Xavier at Xavier. They also beat NCAA invites Gonzaga in WA and West Va on a neutral court, Ohio State, Temple, Western KY on a neutral court just to name a few. They beat Miss State, Vanderbilt by 20 at home, beat Arkansas by 20 in regular season, and Kentucky at home and swept SEC Tourney Champion GA. Plus they have won 30 in a row at home, were one point away from beating Ohio State in the Sweet 16 last year with an inferior team to this year (everyone is back but Dane Bradshaw plus add Tyler Smith and JP Prince, and they won the SEC Championship outright this season only losing SEC regular season games at KY at Vandy.
A better Question: How do you drop a team with the #1 RPI and #1 Schedule Strength from #2? Some have argued they should not have dropped from a #1 due to the body of work during the season. I think they were punished enough by their 1 point loss to Arkansas in the SEC tourney by falling to the last place #2 seed. They will probably have to get by Butler and Louisville just to have the rights to play UNC which is a very tough bracket if you have watched Butler and Louisville this year.
Tennessee did not drop more than one spot because they won the SEC "SEASON Championship" outright. When are some of you people going to give the Vols the respect they deserve, and, by the way, never seem to get from other schools, or the Press, in most cases. Bruce Pearl has brought a "NOTHING" team from obscurity to one the best programs in the NCAA in just a few years, and still you show us no respect and give us no credit for an accomplishment that is AMAZING!!!!...give me a break, why don't ya?!
