Historically under Reid, the Eagles have had some great picks in the 1st through 5th rounds. They seem to especially have a knack for finding talent in the 5th round (ie: Trotter (when his knees weren't shot), Cole, Celek).
But notice these names:
2005
Round 6: Calvin Armstrong
Round 7: Keytona Marshall
Round 7: David Bergeron
2006
Round 6: LaJuan Ramsey
2007
Round 6: Rashad Barksdale
Round 7: Nate Illaoa
In the past three drafts only Lajuan Ramsey is on the roster, and I consider him a flop. My heart sank every time I say him step on the field. I'm just noticing the trend that the Eagles can't do jack in the 6th and 7th rounds, though for some reason they have two innate abilities in later rounds:
1. Draft well in the 5th
2. Find quality depth from Rookie Free Agents (Mikell, Nick Cole, Paschal and the other secondary guy we picked up, can't remember his name, i remember keeping a RFA safety and corner when the eagles came into the 2007 season)
My point? To all the boys at Eagles Headquarters: Trade those 6th and 7th round draft picks. Even if it's for used napkin, get SOMETHING for them. They never make the roster so don't waste the pick. Besides, the Eagles get compensatory picks that'll be in those rounds and they're non-tradable. Lose those picks. They do this team no good.
