Alright Guys,
Its gut check time. lets say we traded Pierre off for anything we could get. And Ethier was the starting LF, with Jones in Center, Kemp in right.
Would you consider signing Bonds for a one year deal at say.....3 million?
Think about it, he isnt going to start every game, nor will he play every game. What if he started every other, or even every 3rd game, pinch hit on the days he wasnt playing in left, came out of the game in the 6th or 7th in double switch.
Ethier would get to start 4/5 games a week, play in the other games as a defensive replacement, still get 400 AB's. But having Bonds on the Bench creates such a pickle for the other manager when you get into late inning situations.
And remember, Bonds stats last year were:
28 HRs 132 walks .565 slugging all in only 340 at bats. Would have led our team.
Not too bad for such an old guy. Sure he is a jerk, and I completely believe he juiced up with HGH......but for 3 million a year, and no Juan Pierre.....sure Ethier isnt given a full time job, but there is no denying that having Bonds on the team wouldnt boost the offense a little bit.
I am still against any Giant ever playing for the Dodgers or the Dodgers having anything to do with them......but just think for a second about this one. Its not too far fetched and from a baseball standpoint would improve the team. From the chemistry it could hurt, but isnt that what Torre and Bowa bring. Plus with a laid back guy like Jones in the locker room. Like I said.....just think about it.

I've thought about it.... and while your points are inciteful and valid and make sense.... I still don't want him. If it meant the difference between winning the World Series and not... i still don't want him. I don't even care that he took steroids or that anyone took steroids. People are responsible for themselves. If they want a shriveled up wang, intense anger and numerous embarrassing medical problems for the rest of their life... that's there choice. I just don't like Bonds.... it's completely personal and really has nothing to do with baseball. I just don't like him.
So no Bonds.

NO. We have enough over the hill exgiants with bad attitudes or bad batting averages, or bad arms, pinch hitters and GM's I thought about it.......... And the answer is still NO! We don't need the bad publicity and reuniting of an old flame with Kent(he has enough problems getting along with the youngsters let alone Bonds) On top of all that Dtown's Avatar would not be nearly as funny! Let somebody else deal with perjury, hgh and whatever other luggage Barry brings. I like how your thinking but not the guy your thinking about.

NO WAY! The reason we got Joe Torre was to teach these youngsters how to be true proffesionals and win. All Barry Bonds would do is teach them all to want there own private jets and lots of $$$. Barry has never been a winner. We want Matt Kemp to be the opposite of Barry Bonds. Not to learn from him.
Just picked up my tickets for the game at the Collosuim and Opening Day. I cant wait any longer. Lets get this thing started!

hmmmmmm...Bonds and Kent on the same team? Didn't they go to a World Series together? Maybe they've made up. I would have to say no. We just don't need anymore problems with the Dodgers. Things in Dodgertown are starting to look good; we don't need regression in the clubhouse, although I think they could handle it, it's not worth the risk. Anyway, Bonds is old, will probably produce, but has a larger then normal chance of getting hurt and staying hurt. Don't we already have a few of those overpaid bleacher players?
Finally, Bonds is one reason I hate the Giants. To bring him to the team, we would be bleeding blue and that putrid orange.

Dtown07,
You were one of my favorite Dodger posters here along with Tremp, Dptw and the rest. After that post....welcome to my sh** list. LOL. Jk buddy you are still one of the best.
I would not care if he would play for free, I would still not want him wearing Dodger Blue.

07, thats from left field man (sorry about that pun). I think Barry Bonds is the best hitter I have ever seen in my life. I also think he is the biggest jerk if ever seen in my lifetime on the ball field. I don't care if he hit 100 homeruns, he is a Giant, he is a jerk and he is a cheater. Enough said, I'll take Ethier's numbers, good or bad. Go Dodgers beat the crap out of the Giants, Diamondbacks, Rockies and Padres.
