Bringing in Pacman Jones couldn't hurt any team, especially if he's willing to take less money to play there. The Cowboys have nothing to lose in this situation, they give up a second day pick for a guy who was drafted 6th overall and has unbelievable talent as a corner and as a return man. He isn't know for being trouble in the locker room only a guy who can't stay out of trouble off the field. He plays hard and best of all is only 24 years old so if he stays out of trouble he can be a quality starter for the next 6 to 8 years. Why not take a risk and trade for him, if he gets in trouble again, the league will suspend him, the Cowboys won't have to pay him so the money wouldn't be an issue and at the most they lose out on a 5th or 6th round pick, who isn't even a guy that will definitely make the team. I say go for it.

I will give you a pass due to your avatar! This could most certainly hurt the any organization. Just ask any Bengals fan if they think that character issues can affect the performance of your team. The Bengals are still trying to recover on the field from all the character issues that stunted their progress a few years ago. This guy has little character, that will transfer over to how he treats his teammates, coaches, and his work ethic in general. If his behavior continues the community will be affected as well. This could have a huge negative impact on the team unless Jones has made some miraculous transformation.

Gotta agree with Steelerfan here... character issues can kill a team. And being undisciplined hurt them last year and now they have "character" issues... after the Jessica Simpson debacle and already having discipline issues yeah I can see this working. I can tell you they won't get any further then they did this year... if that. Teams are getting better they are not Pac Man Jones won't put them over the top and he can just hurt any team chemistry they have... stupid move.

Don't listen to steelerfan.. He is after all a Steeler Fan. This is about the Cowboys. You want WOW Mr.Jones. This'll do it. Dallas has a VERY good rep as of late for turning around problem players. Just look at TO and Tank. Neither have caused problems since coming here. Like the article mentioned, we can thank Calvin Hill. He has an off season and off field program that demands each player hold himself accountable to the team for their actions. This is why I feel that this deal WILL work for Dallas and Pacman. Pacman just needs someone to show him the right path. Calvin's the man to do it. Sorry about the Steeler fan jab. LOL..

Scmlazel, WTF are you talking about? Character issues? What character issues? Thats ridiculous. And OMG get off the whole Jessica Simpson NON issue already. Why are you so narrow/simple minded. Jessica had NOTHING to do with any loss. I still want to hear what Dallas' so called 'character' issues were. Just a totally uneducated statement dude. And adding the BEST punt returner and one of the TOP Db's in the league doesn't help your team??

Take him! He's all yours! Hell, \wWe'll take a 7th round pick for him. I'm tired of seeing his ugly mug on the Tennessee newspapers (and I'm not talking about the Sports section).

For some reason I see that if this trade goes through then somehow Jerry Jones is going to make it that Pacman Jones gets back into the league. I am a little bias on this topic being a Redskins fan but it seems like what JJ wants JJ gets and Pacman is a very good CB that the Cowboys will be getting for almost nothing. I guess you can call it a little jealousy that they might get him but I really hope he cleans up his act. And to think I was hoping the Redskins would be able to draft him....that was a close one.

crushr,
The fact that someone is a fan of another team does not qualify or disqualify them from having a valid point. You should worry more about not only Pacman's character issues but the fact that it looks like Jerry Jones is back calling the shots for personnel moves! The Cowboys have grown into a solid team due to the drafting by Parcels. The tuna is gone and he has taken many of his people with him. Now you have Jones wanting to make a "splash" in the free agent market. I am sure with Jones savy talent evaluations the next Quincy Carter is right around the corner! Then Jones and Pacman can celebrate together by hitting a strip club and making it rain!

I think that he is one the the best returners in the NFL. I mean one million for that guy. I think any team would jump on that deal

One I'm not saying it had anything to do with the Loss... it was so blown up that the coach "let" Romo and players go where they wanted that Romo and his head were not in the right place... all year the coach let his team do what they wanted so that game was magnified. (because he was riding on the coat tails of what Parcells drafted) and was just there to have it come together... Philips never has been successful in the playoffs. Has never been the "mean" disciplined coach that gets results... he has so much talent on that team... they can load up with what the Patriots had and they would do no better then they did last year and still be out on the first round... that is where coaching comes in... they were what the 2nd or 3rd most penalized team? That hurts a lot. Look at the Giants game... hurt them a whole lot...

Obviously only the Cowboys have been the only team interested... for a late round pick... same with Moss last year when someones character is in check turns teams off. (by no means am I comparing them talent wise or Character wise) Pacman is no talent compared to moss and moss is no character the moron Pacman is and he has only been in the league how long? Jeez... another difference is that Moss went to a Disciplined Coach in BB while Jones will go to a team with a hot head like T.O. no real leadership there and a coach that doesn't think discipline is a key thing to have...

Why the hell would Dallas want this guy. He is a huge liability and hasn't played football in over a year. With all the coverage Dallas gets this guy could seriously be a distraction.
Tony Romo and his trips to Mexico with Jessica, are nothing compared to what would happen if Pacman Jones got into any situations in a Dallas strip club.
And Dallas has a passive coach on top of it all too. So it's not like he's gonig to be kept in line. This really would negatively impact a Dallas team that has failed to win a playoff game in the past two years.
If Jones hasn't changed his ways after being suspended from teh NFL for a year and has no set date to be reinstated, do people really think that Pacman Jones playing for one of the biggest football markets and getting paid to do it, is going to make him change his ways.
I think Dallas needs to reassess their priorities and what is good for the team, because trading for Jones is not a step in the right direction.

I think that if Goodell wants to make examples out of people, he needs to keep Pacman Jones out of the league much longer. I say force this guy to play in the CFL or something...Cause Jones may have all the talent in the world, but since he has come into this league he has done nothing but draw negative attention to the NFL. Heck even Ricky Williams made an attempt to play football elsewhere than the NFL. Jones seems to just be biding his time assuming he will be reinstated or signing on with wrestling leagues.
Keep him out of the league until he gets help for his strip club obsession, and actually does some charitable work, and isn't in a police log for atleast 2 years. The NFL doesn't need characters like Jones, there are plenty of other less talented, but quality character guys just aching to get a chance to play in the NFL.

Before Pacman was suspended, he WASN'T a liability on the field. For that matter he was quite good.
Roger Goodell has taken much pleasure making an example of Jones as soon as he became the new sheriff in town. I'm not saying there is no "crime", but the punishment hardly fits it. There was a period of time that Pacman wasn't even convicted of one crime, yet Goodell was out to get him.
The Titans wouldn't allow him to earn when he signed a deal with TNA Wrestling, so he could not actually perform in the ring(could still do non-physical activity with TNA).
The NFL and the Titans have made their over-statement clear. It's time to let him play.

Patsalltheway....I completely agree. You might have all the talent in the world but if you are making the entire league look bad due to your actions then we don't need to pay you millions to be a screw up. I feel that way too many players in the league seem to think that it is their right to play in the NFL (Maurice Clarrett) but it is not a right it is a privledge. If any of us got into this much trouble we would not be given a second chance.......do the same to Jones....let him go. Let him work like the avg. american for a couple years then when he knows how great he had it, then decide if it is time to reinstate him.

so if he stays out of trouble he can be a quality starter for the next 6 to 8 year
Thats a big
IF
This would be a bad move, giving up anything for a guy who will probably be kicked out of the NFL by mid season next year.

This would be a great move for the Cowboys...NOT!!
However, I could see Pacman fitting nicely into the Big D attitude. Maybe to stay out or trouble, him and Tank Johnson can go and shoot some guns. I am sure they both have a pretty nice collection to show eachother. I hear the clubs in Dallas are pretty nice and those Walker Texas Rangers don't care if they carry firearms around. I can see him and T.O. | |
