Jeez!
Age is NOT hurting the Colts, they were the 2nd youngest team in the league last year behind green bay!
top12
1. Indianapolis Colts - #1 defense and the DPOY last year, Dwight Freeney back from injury and another year of experience for Ed Johnson, Antoine Bethea (probowler), Kelvin Hayden, and Marlin Jackson. #3 offense last year, still have Peyton Manning who has thrown at least 31 TD's the past 2 years, thrown at least 28 TD's the last 5 years along with having a rating of at least 98.0 the past 5 years all while never throwing more than 14 ints. If Marvin Harrison comes back, good. He can mentor Anthony Gonzalez and Devin Aromashodu. If not, instead of being mentored Devin Aromashodu can play and use that big body of his. Hopefully the Colts O-Line will last more than half the year, unlike last season. The only problem might be losing Jake Scott, but i trust coach mudd to teach those youngin's to step up and play well.
2. New York Giants - Defending superbowl champs, i would have them at #1 because of that but im a colts homer soooo..... anyway, eli is becoming a good nfl QB, that front 7 on defense is great and Brandon Jacobs & Plaxico Burress really stepped up last year. The only problem is Michael Strahan, he was a key part of that D-Line last year and he aint getting any younger.
3. New England Patriots - 16-0 last year, but couldnt finish it off. Sure they lost some people over the offseason, but honestly people, when havent they? The only problem might be the aging of that D, i know they were supposed to be old last year, but theyre DEFINITELY old this year. I believe losing Rosevelt Colvin and Asante Samuel will hurt more than some people think.
4. Dallas Cowboys - Solid team until last few games of the season last year, good O, good enough D. If they trade for Pacman Jones their special teams would get an immediate boost, as would their D. They also have 2 first round draft picks. The only problem is that neither their head coach nor their starting quarterback has EVER won a playoff game, not good.
5. Cleveland Browns - 10-6 last year and no playoffs, that must sting. Acquired major D-line depth by trading for Korey Williams and Shaun Rodgers. Signed Donte' Stallworth who i believe is a playmaker. The only problem is the rest of that defense, AND no first day draft picks, i think their corners are actually pretty underrated but that linebacking core doesnt impress me.
6. San Diego Chargers - 11-5 after a rocky start and a trip to the AFC championship game last year. They struck gold with Eric Weddle and the acquisition of Chris Chambers was a good move. The only problem is that Philip Rivers is still unproven, LT isnt getting any younger and has over 2300 career carries, and besides Cromartie and the overachieving rookie weddle, who do they have in the secondary?
7. Jacksonville Jaguars - Solid season last year, strong running game, qb in David Garrard who doesnt make mistakes, good run D, rookie Reggie Nelson played well last year. The only problem is, and it might just be me but i dont believe that in this day and age you can win without a big playmaking quarterback.
8. Philadelphia Eagles - Solid year last year, but below average for the Eagles. Signed Asante Samuel and Chris Clemons. Brian Westbrook is an absolute beast, almost a Marshall Faulk. The only problem is that Dawkins isnt getting any younger, their division is one of the 2 toughest in the NFL, and the fact that they still dont have a true #1 receiver, should have signed Bryant Johnson when they had the chance.
9. Pittsburgh Steelers - Made the playoffs 3 of the last 4 years, won what everyone considered to be the toughest division in the NFL going into last season, Ben Roethlisgerger resigned, and the Joey Porter release didnt kill them at all. The only problem isnt with pittsburgh, its with the other AFC teams, in my opinion Pittsburgh is solid and has little holes, but the other afc teams are just more explosive, Pittsburgh needs that O-Line fixed, and fast.
10. Seattle Seahawks - Won their division 4 years in a row, went to the superbowl a few years back, had 4 pro bowl defenders last year. Spells for another 10-11 win season in 08. Watch out for Julius Jones, he will be an absolute beast with Seattle. The only problem is that Walter Jones isnt getting any younger, and a lack of consistency with the whole team. Shaun Alexander is done.
11. Tennessee Titans - Vince Young has not had a losing season in the NFL so far, that defense was pretty solid last year, and that running game was pretty good. The only problem is lack of a big play receiver/running back and losing some of that D-Line depth will hurt them down the stretch.
12. Houston Texans - Improved greatly last year with their first ever 2-0 start. That defense should explode into a top 5 unit if the injury bug doesnt bite, just look at some of those names; Amobi Okoye, Mario Williams, D'amico Ryans, Dunta Robinson. That is a solid D. They also have a GREAT #1 receiver in Andre Johnson who if he can stay healthy should go over 1300 yards and 8 TD's next year. The only problem is who is their QB? BOTH Matt Schaub and Sage Rosenfels were pretty good last year. Who is the running back? If they had signed Michael Turner i would have thrown them in the top 8, but they didnt so running back is still a hole.
Those are my pre draft power rankings, it took entirely too long to write.
