Since the Zags season was ended thanks to Davidson(just Stephen Curry) and i knew it when he hit the 3 with 3:09 left in the game?

Tell me what you guys think of our season this year and what can potentially happen next year.

Well, since we lost our last two games, considering the team we lost to, I don't think this season will be looked upon highly whatsoever. We have too many players that were stars on their highschool teams; they just don't know how to become role players instead of trying to win the game on their own (unless you're stephen curry). The only two players who became role players were Pendo and Kuso. In my opinion, they were some of the most valuable players on our team this year. True Pargo and Bouldin were leading scorers, they were just too streaky. Heytfelt was a total joke this year, and as far as Daye and Gray go, they defenitley show talent, but agian they have got to find the chemistry that we are missing.

despite what has happened this season, there is NO DOUBT we will be good next year. Going into my senior year I look forward to watching us dominate the Kennel. I hope we keep getting some solid non-conference schedules because we wil actually be able to beat the Memphises and Tennessees of next year.

It will be a long day of mourning, but now we can get to work on putting together an amazing season next year. Thank you seniors Pendo and Kuso, and GO ZAGS!

Souldrinker,

there is no doubt that we will have the number 1 out of conference schedule there is and we will have one of the toughest roads to get back to where we were this year. We will have to win tough games and go threw more injuries. I hope we can do better and win a championship next year. Thank you Souldrinker for your thoughts and have a terrific senior year at the kenel.

I'm pretty disappointed.I never thought we would lose tody. Alot of people were picking Davidson. I wasn't. We will be back next season. I'm pulling for San diego now they are hanging in pretty good with U Conn.

Upsets are always tough. Trust me, I know (UNC vs. Georgetown last year). However, Davidson shouldn't have been a #10 seed anyway. They've given UNC, d00k, UCLA, and Memphis a run for their money this season (even though they didn't win any of those). They showed that they belong back in the upper echelon of college basketball like they were in the '70's and '80's. Truth be told, I think Gonzaga got beat by a better team. But don't let that get you down. You've got a lot of young talent and should bounce back next year.

Gonzaga was just not that good this season. They could play with anyone but they couldn't knock off any of the nation's top teams. Next season will be better but until they get a few more scorers it will be tough years for Gonzaga fans. I hope to see Gonzaga back among the nation's best teams again very quickly.

I wouldn't say that Gonzaga just wasn't that good this year.  We had the most talent we've seen on a single team.  My take is that we sent the wrong member of the coaching staff to San Diego.  Mark Few's only trend since taking over has been a downward one, what's next....not making the tourney???  I just don't know if we have the right guy at the wheel to make Gonzaga among the nation's best again.  He may be a winning coach, but even whisper the word "Tournament" and he disappears, taking his team with him.  Do you think we could convince San Diego to trade us Grier for Few?

You guys are going to be very good again next year,  but you will face some very serious competition from St. Mary's for the Conference title.   I look forward to heating up this rivalry next year.  Particularly since I was completely disappointed in both St. Mary's and Gonzaga in the post-season.  I hope both of these teams can get over the hump next year.  I feel like the season just kind of left off with no resolution.

We are going to be stacked next year.  We're bringing in a couple new bigs, one a freshman, and one a Junior tranfer from Indiana (another Aussie).  But the most exciting will be Collin Chiverton from San Jose.  Here's a little vid to give you guys a taste of what you're in for:

Anyway, we'll see you next year in Spokane.  We'll see in Moraga.  We'll see you in Vegas.

Well, Card, I think Gonzaga will once again be a slight favorite in the WCC - we'll see.  Don't forget about San Diego - they'll be back and very tough.  Still, I like our chances assuming that the freshmen develop like I think they will and Heytvelt works hard and comes back 100%.  Losing Kuso and Pendo, as much as I love those guys, may actually help by shortening our rotation and helping us develop some continuity assuming we can replace their intangibles such as maturity and leadership.  I don't get too excited about anyone's transfers and recruits until I see how they actually fit in and play.

RC- Gonzaga will come out as a favorite, but it is going to be a very tight race.

I'm not sure what to make of San Diego.  They will be kind of an X factor.  On the one hand, I could say they have a lack of size and depth, but that didn't seem to matter much when they knocked both of us out of WCC contention, and surprised UCONN.  However, Johnson and Pomare had to play out their minds in the postseason.  I wonder if they can sustain that level throughout a whole season.

I think San Diego just played much more intense in the post-season than St. Mary's or Gonzaga.  Home court in the Dub-CC may have been a factor, but that's no excuse, and doesn't explain why they were able to win their 1st round.  I can see San Diego having a similar season to this next year, where they lose about 10 games but still pull together a great run at the end of the season when the adreniline is flowing.  As for St. Mary's and Gonzaga, the pieces are there for both teams to be top-20, but it really comes down to chemistry and attitude, both of which were sub par for both these teams in this post-season.

The season was a complete failure, because of the way it ended. I have loved Few as our coach, but as much as he succeeds in the WCC, he fails in the tourney. I have yet to see one of Few's teams overachieve in the tourney. This year was another prime example. How does Downs not see any playing time in the second half? He helped to keep Curry to 10 points in the first half, but did not even take off his warmup in the second half. That is absurd. He also had too much faith in the seniors, this is the tourney not senior night against Santa Clara. Play your best team, not the team you personally like the most. I wouldn't mind if he took a higher level job and we get some new blood at the Kennel.

While I defended Few on another thread I will say I was also stupified about Downs.  To me, it was clear from Daye's first shot that, as was the case in the WCC Tournament, he was tight.  It was him, not Downs, who should not have played in the second half.  I was hardly surprised when Mr. 90% free throw shooter missed free throws or bricked threes late - I expected it.  Bouldin was tight as well.

I love Few and everything that he has done for us. Without him, America's team wouldn't exist. Based on his success in the past, however, I would say this season has room to bring forth some criticism.

He never could really understand our team this year, although it is hard to blame him for that because what should a coach have done with our team this year? I would get frustrated however when he would play zone ds against teams that were hot from the 3-point... I don't think he planed very well for most of the games either. We also had terrible team unity and couldn't get any momentum all season long.... I don't know if that is the coach's fault, but that is something that I'm not used to seeing the Zags struggle with.

Based on the success he has brought in the the past, he has risen expectations for himself and from his peers. He has established Gonzaga and Spokane really as a basketball town; we are national contenders, not a shitty team from the WCC, and we need to act like it. Sure, thank Few for the miracles that he has given us, but everything is different now that we are an elite program.

I won't be too harsh on Few because when we dominate next year, this season will just be viewed as a building year. I mean, look at Kansas! Everyone talked about how much talent that had two years back, but they always hung around 20-25 in the AP..... Well look at them now.

Do we need to regret letting Bill Greer go to another WCC team like San Diego? He knows us pretty well.
