It's too early to say.  A lot of what happens depends on ownership and how much they are willing to invest in what unfortunately amounts to a last place team.  If there isn't a significant upgrade in talent I wouldn't expect anything more than .500.  However, if they get a few new impact pieces - especially defense - I think they can regain their winning ways.

I think the trade deadline moves were a good start in that direction and despite the current record Feaster should retain his position.  Not sure on Torts.  I love his coaching style but is it working in the locker room and on the ice?  They gave up a 4-1 lead with 6 unanswered in the 3rd.  To me that loss is a sign of a team quitting.

I think the injuries this year had a big impact on the Lightning's record.  I think Smith is a legit No 1 goalie and having him for the full season next year will make at least a 8-10 game difference in the win colomn.  Also, the additions via trade of Halpern and Jusse will make a difference in the offense.  Look at how well the new guys have played so far.  We need at least one very good defender but two would be very nice.  Torts is the coach this team needs and with Vinny and Marty we only need a couple of pieces to get this team back in the playoffs next year.  Go Bolts!

Agreed LECARP, Smith will make a difference...and with Ramo getting some in game experience without a strong defense this year can only help him in the future.

I love Dan Boyle, he's the man, but we do need a more defensive minded guy (talented mind you) back there to lead our boys along beside him.

uhhh...All I'm going to say is Jeff Halpern.

halpern has been a breath of fresh air.....but it seems while halpern has been going vinny and marty have been tailing off some.....i think picard has played very well scoring aside....he plays a tough physical style and could help us long into the future...oulette has played very well since the addition of Jeff Halpern....his injury aside he has had a pretty good season....

I think we have a decent shot at the playoffs next year.  We had so many games lost to injuries this year.  The year we won the cup we had the least games lost to injury in NHL.  Taylor, Boyle, Craig and Gratton, lost huge time.  Lukowich, Kuba,  McDonald and Karlsson all lost a good amount of time.  We have been very lucky in the past, maybe this year was Karma sneaking up on us.  With the experience the others gained in there absence is invaluable and will benifit us very well next year.  Torts and Feaster get another year!
