Yep, I'll have to agree with Prisco on this topic, too. I really want us to get Limas Sweed, and a pass catching tight end would help Trent Edwards get another great receiver. We still need a CB because we only have 3 or 4 (Mcgee, greer, youboty, and james?) and playing against Randy Moss twice a year will make the need even more pressing.
What we really need is a DL/DE, not a corner. The reason we had such good corners for so many years is because we had great DL/DE. When your DL/DE make the QB scramble the QB makes mistakes and the CB looks like a star. We have a long history of star CB's dating to pre-super bowl years, conincidentally we had a long history until two years ago of dominant DL/DE play with Bruce, Washington, Williams, Adams, Schobel, Paup and a few others. Fix the line of scrimmage and all skill positions look like stars!
I would take Sedrick Elliss in a heartbeat if he was still there. There is no way to improve that offensive line, we spent too much money on garbage see walker and dockery. We need a tackle to match up with Marcus Stroud so we don't get punched in the mouth again. Maybe we can get a wideout later but how do we know that Malcolm Kelly is the next big thing. He isn't worth the risk.
Yeah. Um. I donno what games you were watching last year, but our offensive line has improved tremendously in the past two seasons. Part because of those signings, part because Trent doesn't make love to the football before he gets it out of his hand. As far as the draft is concerned, I'd love for us to try to trade down. There are many teams, IE the Eagles, the Cowboys (which we've done business with in the past), and the Jaguars that would love to move up a few spots to get guys they see fit for their scheme. Philly would love to move up and grab a Sweed or a Kelly to please McNabb. He's been lobbying for a play-maker at the wide-out position since he came into the league. Jacksonville would love to move up and score some d-line success with maybe a Ellis or a Derrick Harvey. And lastly, the Cowboys also would love to move up and snag themselves another wide-out with TO and Terry Glenn coming up to the point of their career where production starts to slip. If we could move down between 19 and 26 and pick up another 2nd round pick, I say we take a CB in that area like a Talib or Jenkins, then with one of our two second round picks we take a WR like Devin Thomas or James Hardy. I don't like taking a WR at 11 because none of these first round guys are worth an 11th overall in my opinion. Then with our 2nd pick in the second round we can address the TE position with maybe Dustin Keller or Martellus Bennett outta Texas A&M. That would be my dream scenario. Two rounds in and we've patched three big holes in the "Wagon."
cant run block? that was the Bills ENTIRE offense last year! there was no passing game what so ever, it was run run run. it makes it hard to do good run blocking when there are 8 guys standin there in the box knowing who is getting the ball. i really think the best move for the bills came with a loss this offseason. i was thrilled fairchild left! maybe we can call some sensible plays this year!
the bills areas of concern are in order, a WR, CB, TE, DL.... problem is there is no standout wr or te in the draft this year that is worthy of going #11 imo. so im hoping we grab a top corner. tho i do agree if ellis somehow managed to fall that far (which aint happenin) the bills should take him. worst case scenario is you have 3 good DTs who you can rotate in.
I'm a huge Pats fan and I would definately say the only competition in the division is Buffalo. What they did last year when their whole defense was injured was amazing. Trent Edwards also seems like the real deal, another coming of Tom Brady, very efficient. I think an impact tight end could probably help more than a burner at receiver. They could probably trade down to an early second round pick and get Fred Davis from USC. Tight ends seem like a comfort zone for quarterbacks, especially young ones. Look at Tony Romo, Vince Young, Phillip Rivers, Derek Anderson, etc. Anyways, Lee Evans is amazing, so the Bills don't need another burner, and Roscoe is a solid number 3 receiver. It'd be interesting if they made a push or Chad Johnson or Roy Williams, but I know it won't happen. I just think they'd be better off trading their first round pick, and stocking piling second round picks. Fred Davis in the 2nd round plus a good possession receiver in the second round seems like enough to make this a wild card team with Division winning hopes looking good in the future.
i agree our front seven is sick but lets be honest Randy Moss will destroy any rookie cb we have in there so a cb will not make an imidiate impact for us but a physical wr would ur thoughts
Let me blunt: you CANNOT STOP Randy Moss, period. The only way you can "stop" Moss is by getting to Brady. Buffalo didn't even breathe on Brady last year.
Now, some teams showed you can contain Moss, but then Brady just hit one of his 30 other weapons. Hence, you have to get to Brady.
with getting pressure on brady like QB it would require a good DLinemen. i still say our first pick is the best CB availible, unless gholston or ellis is there, tthen yes nab him
