Well today is the 24th, my 19th birthday, and a sad day knowing that A&M lost to UCLA on Saturday. Theres alot of talk on the boards where people are blaming the game on the refs bad calls, or should I say, "not calls." :/ You won't hear a UCLA fan or a CBS analyst talk about it, but everyone that was watching at home saw that on multiple occasions, A&M players were fouled going for shots. I mean, is it really possible to block someones shot 3 times and not foul them Kevin Love? I'm starting to think the only reason Love is even considered good is because he can get away with beating people up in the paint on both sides of the ball. But It wasn't just him, there are pictures of the last shot of the game that show Shipp fouling Slaon as he went for his shot. If someone can take 2 pictures of Shipp hitting Sloan's arm, why can't a ref that is trained to see these things not? I know that Slaon only shot like 66 % from the line this season, and thats what alot of people have been saying, "Well even if they would have called a foul Sloan wouldn't have made the 2 shots." ... Well now we dont even have a chance to see if he would ahve do we? We are all left with just what if's about this game, and it is because of bad officials that wanted to please the 17,000 UCLA fans. I'm not saying UCLA didnt deserve to win, but .... oh yeah, wait, I am saying it ... UCLA did not deserve to win this game. A&M was clearly the better team, if only by a little bit, but none the less, UCLA should not have been givin that game like they were. Maybe in overtime they could have proven me wrong, but just as the game ended with no one knowing if Sloan would've made his 2 free throws, I will never know if UCLA really deserved to win.
Well enough rambling on about a game that is in the history books. I am very excited about next season, we have alot of returning players with experience, and maybe some more time getting to know the coach will bring this team together for a deep run in the tournament next year. Maybe they should schedule a pre conference game with UCLA, just for old times sake, to answer my questions. Without Love though, would UCLA accept? I'm not sure either.
Now that basketball is over I'm not sure what I'll do except wait for football, but oh well. We had a good season with a nice controversial loss in the NCAA tornament to end it. Gig Em Aggies! and Happy Birthday to me
