Injuries to Freeny and Sanders were the kiss of death for that defense last year.  An active pass rush would have helped quite a bit.  IMO the Colts need to draft as many good DE's and pass rushing LB's as they can find.

An active pass rush will put this team back on top of the Patriots.

100% agreement on getting a pass rusher at DE.  Just so you know the Colts don't let their linebackers pass rush very often so a pass rushing LB wouldn't help in that department much as the Colts Cover 2 scheme doesn't blitz much however a pass rushing linebacker can soon become an undersized pass rushing DE for the Colts as their DE's are generally smaller any ways.  That makes the pass rush generated by the DL even more important.  The Colts have two of the best pass rushing DE's in the game in Dwight Freeney and Robert Mathis, however, as we saw when Freeney went down the D struggled in the playoffs and if you watched the KC game (the game after Freeney went down), you would have seen that their rookie QB had a long time in the pocket to tear the Colts D apart but being a rookie couldn't take as much advantage of it as he should have.

The Colts need another pass rushing DE to backup and spell Mathis and Freeney especially since Freeney won't be ready until game 1 of the regular season.  IMO this is priority in the draft.

The Dungy defense does not require LBs to rush the passer.  The D is designed for everything to stay in front of them and they fly to the ball.

Also, while Freeney was injured, Sanders missed relatively little time last year compared to previous years.

They need to look at DE, O-line depth and WR depth.

i agree, that is their only immediate need. depth on the D-line will help a bunch with injuries and will give freeney and mathis an occasional breather. the Colts line backers arent for pass rushing though.

Gotcha, guess I'm too used to the Giants system where everyone goes after the QB.

How do you guys rate your secondary right now?  If there is a need for a corner then this would be a perfect time for one, the draft is very deep here.
