someone needs to blow up this thread because these posts are just becoming rediculous. Bwestmvp, Love schmidt, but to seriously put him in the same sentence as a-rod couldn't be mored biased. The whole "service time" at third base is an awful basis to your arguement.

Ih1, I will agree that Berkman and Jones are clearly the 2 choices for mvp if the season ended today. However, to say that Utley isn't even in the top 10? First off, get the pitchers out of the conversation. Last pitcher to win mvp was 40yrs ago and it's not going to happen unless webb can somehow keep up this insane pace. Out of the final 6 you named, there isn't one of those that you can say is clearly having a better year thatn utley, nor can I return the favor. But to say he isn't in that mix is insane.

Also, "Utley is in the top 3 in 2nd baseman in the NL."...Um, utley is the best second baseman in baseball. Sure Uggla has similar stats at this point of the season, but if you to say he is a better second baseman, you truly know nothing about baseball. That would be very similar to me telling you that Garrett Atkins is a better 3rd baseman that Wright considering he's batting almost 60 points higher than him. Wright has been on a nice little crash course (or would you call it an "utley streak") himself ever since he ripped up the phils back in mid-april

I doubt u posted this Friday, because ur way off on the Utley stuff.

As for what the President said... You want me to acknowledge that?  He's the same guy who said there were "weapons of mass destruction" in iraq, lol.   He cant even run the country right, but he's making comments on baseball, lol.  That was priceless, i really laughed at that.. not you, but the whole bush thing, lol

Nordberg..i understand the Phillies have a gem in Utley, but there are quite a few 2nd baseman out there who can duplicate his stats.. or come close.  I agree Utley is the best right now but we are forgetting these players

Brandon Phillips - 30/30 candidate
Robinson Cano - Can challenge for a batting title and has some pop
Placidoe Polanco -  You know bout him

I still think Utley is the best, but Brandon Phillips is a great player and i might soon be the head honcho at second base

Moses, I rate Uggla much higher than Phillips. Uggla's still a kid and has only been playing a couple of years. The guy has 40 hr potential, can hit between 40 and 50 doubles a year, and is going to hit around .300 every year. Phillips has more speed but Uggla brings more to the plate.

As for Utley, hey, I'd certainly take him on my team any day of the week. I just think there are a dozen guys right now with equal or better numbers than Utley so I've put him around # 10 as the MVP if I were voting right now. The guy has 14 hrs but only 30 RBI's. If the number was 40 I'd rate him higher. Maybe with J-Roll back and if Howard ever starts hitting consistently, the numbers will rise.

Yea after i posted it, i realized i forgot Uggla and Kendrick.  Uggla definietly has more power than Utley, and he's still has room to grow.
