Who cares?  I'm watching the NCAA tournament.  It is filled with guys just like Stephen.  They go to college to get a degree.  They hope that they get a chance to go to the NBA, but it's a hopeful plan B.  Stephen wasn't even heavily recruited for college (the ACC passed).  I bet they can't believe what they're seeing.  In 2 years he went from a non-recruit to one of the best players in college.  And...he can actually carry on a conversation per his interview.  That's because he's a student first.

So, after 2 more years of college, he may have completed the Jordan metamorphosis (remember, M.J. got cut in High School) or he'll have a degree from a respected college with which to begin life after basketball.  Why do the forums here always ask about the next level?  Enjoy the moment.

if Curry goes pro, he'll be a lottery pick.  he's as clutch as anyone i've seen.  he'll make a great SG in the NBA.

he'll be drafted, later first round, early second....he will get bounced around for a bit before his time is up, sign him up for the d-leauge, he doesnt have the nba body, if he bulks up hes gold but hes less talented then jj redick and hes barely hanging on in the nba

kflex stole the jj redick comparison from me. stephen curry doesn't have much of an nba future ahead of him. that's why he can carry on a conversation in the post-game interviews... there's more to him than a vertical leap and a jump shot.

Sure fire first rounder.  Anyone who can shoot like that will stick around in the NBA for 20 years.  Look what his dad did 16 years in the league with one of the games best jumpers.

dont compare him to jj redick.

jj redick was not clutch at all, curry is as clutch as it comes. curry has also done his work with little talent around him.

Good call.  J.J. Redick was never that impressive when it actually mattered.  I play pickup basketball games with guys that can shoot 50 percent from 3 point range, and that was his only real hope in the NBA.  Curry is WAY more clutch and is quicker.

He doesn't have the body, so unless he bulks up he will wander for a while before ending up somewhere outside the NBA.  But if he does add a significant amount of strength, though he'll never be even a Stephen Jackson or Joe Johnson, he could be another Dell Curry.

Just to point out, I'm not suggesting I play basketball with guys who are equal NBA prosepects as Redick, I'm just pointing out that without the money 3 he has little to offer in the NBA, and that his 3 point skills, though excellent, aren't unheard of.

Who cares?  I'm watching the NCAA tournament. EXACTLY... If I wanted to watch the Not Basketball Assoc offerings or discuss them, I'd be there. If I wanted to watch a bunch of overpaid, undermotivated players that don't dive for a ball, jump into the seats or sweat that their team is under .500 until the money light comes on in the quest for a spot in the playoffs, then I'd be watching the NBA.

These kids play their hearts out every game for a shot at something else. yes, for some that's a shot at the NBA $$$ and that's cool. But for the 90%+ that will never play in the NBA, it's honor and glory - even a scholarship and a degree.

Sounds corny? it might be, but IMO it makes for much more exciting basketball and football than the Pros. We Gators thank the sports gods that the 04s made the decision they did to stay on and ignore major buck$ to do something far more exciting for themselves and their University - stay and play. Last year was, for Gator fans, as exciting as it gets.
