Overall this past year was a success for the Badgers, even if it didn't end well. Picked to be a distant third or fourth in the Big Ten and not to be in the Big Ten tournament's championship game, they surpassed all expectations. Now on to the players.
- Marcus Landry: Played very well the entire year, and earned his 2nd/3rd team All Big Ten honor. Then he really turned it on to win the MOP of the Big Ten tournament. But after that he went into hiding and had a disappointing NCAA tournament.
- Trevon Hughes: Regardless of what you think of him, he played well. The fact is that he's not going to score 20 points every night, which seems to be the expectations of some posters. His shot selection was not the best at times, but there was no one on the team that I'd want to handle the ball with the shot clock under 10. He also played some really good defense, but that was mostly overshadowed by Flowers.
- Jason Bohannon: Showed great improvement in all areas of his game over last year. He showed the ability to create his own shot, had ice in his veins when shooting free throws, is deceptively strong (which helped get better at rebounding), and played much better defense.
- Michael Flowers: Had a great year defensively and a very good one offensively. Showed that he couldn't be left alone at the three point line anymore. Deserved the All Defensive team honor, and should have won the Defensive Player of the Year award. Anyone who disagrees with this should watch the Illinois-Purdue game in the Big Ten tournament. Kramer got beat backdoor three times when he sold out for a steal isntead of playing good defense. His high number of steals was as much a product of Purdue's defense as Kramer himself.
- Tim Jarmusz: I doubt he'll transfer now. He came to Wisconsin to see if he belonged at a high major program, and I think he showed that he did. After steadily improving in practice and showing Bo that he deserved game time, he made few mistakes, played good defense, and showed a bit of that great shot.
- Jon Leuer: Looked VERY good during the first half of the season, highlighted by his 12 at Duke and 25 at Michigan. But after the Iowa game he scored only 9 points and 0 in the last six games of the regular season. His defense was suspect at times, and his lack of strength showed.
- Brian Butch: His elbow wasn't at 100% until a couple months into the season, and it showed in his 3 point percentage. Absolutely horrible until January, he hit a great percentage during the conference season. He was the team's leading scorer and rebounder and made 1st-team All Big Ten. I don't know how much more could have been expected from him.
- Greg Stiemsma: Largely shed the foul trouble that plagued him in previous years. Did a good job in place of Butch on the defensive end, and showed growth on the offensive end as well. It was nice to see him get some starts early in the season.
- Kevin Gullikson: Before his drinking ticket did a good job at what Bo used him for: to eat up some minutes and try to pick up some fouls on an opposing big. And in case the other team fell asleep on him he showed that he could convert under the hoop as well.
- Joe Krabbenhoft: Had a great year doing all the little things, but was a bit disappointing on offense. Getting named to the All Defensive team made the Badgers the first team to have two players honored in one year.
Congratulations on the regular season Big Ten championship, Big Ten tournament championship, and Sweet Sixteen appearance. That's a successful season by any standard.
