That does sound a little worrisome. I remember 1969: the alums bought Driesell a new car & he left for Maryland! I think the situations are rather different. Davidson had a new president & I'm not sure Spencer was as supportive of basketball as Martin had been. Also, Driesell was younger in his career & had pretty much accomplished all he could at Davidson. In fact, he left us in excellent shape -- Maloy, Cook & Kroll were rising seniors & Bryan Adrian was an awesome talent about to join the varsity team. It is a sad testimony that Davidson allowed all that Driesell had built up to deteriorate so quickly. By the time I was a freshman at Davidson, we went 7-19 (1974-'75). My only hope is that we learned from this experience. Were McKillop to leave, I would like to think that the College would put the resources into basketball so that we wouldn't flail about in the doldrums for decades before another revival. I also don't think McKillop has accomplished all he can at Davidson -- now that he has us back on the map, his recruiting job should be easier. I would think he would like his current position with respect to recruiting. Plus, as you said, with Curry returning & his son on the team, that should reduce the odds that he'd leave. Even though RIce is an excellent school, I can't imagine that McKillop would go for that position -- but there have got to be some that would be tempting.
