Since everyone seems to have a problem with Hansbrough, tell why you don't like him. A real reason, not that he sucks, or hes gay, or because he plays for Carolina. Not because the media loves him or hes white, he can't help either or those. So post why you don't like a kid that puts up 20-10 numbers and led his team to a Final Four.

Reminds me of Mark Madsen at Stanford?
Tyler will be a role player in the NBA.
Yes that was hyperbole with the madsen comparison, but he too was a huge effort guy who found success at the college level that didn't really translate into NBA stardom. Tyler is a better version of Tyler. Tyler will be a 10 and 10 guy at best.

I think you are being a little generous by saying he'll be a 10 and 10 guy. 5-10 and 5 is more realistic in the NBA. If he's playing a role, his minutes will be limited. You are dead on with the comparison. Tyler is a spaz with a goofy shot that seems to go in. He'll get knocked around in the NBA.

Madsen is a dead on comparison, only Tyler is better. He's got more offensive moves. Yeah he likes to draw contact which won't work in the NBA but his shot will come around. Easy 10 and 6-7 a game. I would love to have him in Philly next to Dalembert to toughen up our front line.

I like Tyler Hansborough just like i was a fan of Mark Madsen, and they remind of each other almost equally except Madsen was a little more off his rocker. Tyler may be a better pro than madsen but not much better. I think he would benefit by getting on a team with a scoring big man so he can be the ugly rebounding trash picking big man who picks up the ugly buckets. I am relatively impressed with his jumping ability which bodes well for him but i still think that guys like Amare and Duncan and Dwight and i don't know even Samuel Dalembert would pretty much eat his babies.

Comparing Tyler to Mark madsen is a complete joke. How many times was Madsen Player of the Year. Get Real.
I dont know why people hate him. I always thought the same thing about JJ Reddick. These dudes can play BB and play hard. Whats not to like?

ok and the topic is how good will they be in the nba, and what is Reddick doing in the NBA, sitting the bench behind who? Keith Bogans? Tyler is a GREAT college player but the nba is not his game, just like Mateen Cleaves, Mark Madsen, and Bobby HUrley not to mention plenty of other good college players that just weren't good pros

I love watching him I don't care what kind of NBA player he'll be, he goes out every game and plays hard and wants to win.

I saw the same Nile hoops summit in 05. I saw a player that had his shots blocked but he just lept on hustling all game. I thought this guy is not a great talent but dam he keeps hustling. He wound up with about 30 points. You can slam the ball down his throat and he will run down the ball and go up again and again. (i am not trying to insult Tyler) I know when I had my shot slammed down my tonsils I lost all thought I was great. I don't think Tyler thinks he is great. The jokes on you guys, he is in on the fact he's not a "great athlete".

And this is sounding a lot like Mark Madsen. Thanks for making the point.

Don't spend the money. You'll probably end up getting a younger and cheaper Madsen in the 2nd round of the draft this year. Then all you UNC fans can keep the poster up on your wall.

I have followed Tyler for 6 years and I have been amazed how his career has progressed. However, if it was so easy to get the rebounds like he does don't you think other hustlers would have done it? Black, white pink or orange, wouldn't you like to be a college basketball superstar? He has some kind of ability, if being intense if all it takes then wouldn't everyone do it? it;s not easy to understand exactly what he has. It's not easy to understand what it is, he has good coordination, he faster than people realize.

I am a Kansas fan living in Raleigh, NC. I detest North Carolina while respecting the great program.
But I really have a hard time not cheering for Hansbrough. The guy does have considerable skill, consistently knocking down completely off balance shots. He flat out plays his ass off and that is what makes hime great.
I hope he decides to slack off against my Jayhawks. It should be a stellar game if he decides to play hard.

Here's my old school comparison: A combination of 1) Moses Malone. Undersized 5 that just worked his and your butt off every day, every game, every play and/or 2) Karl Malone. Hans ain't the physical freak Karl was but think about this: Malone 6'9" 250, Hansbrough 6'9" 250. Hans actually may develop a similar game if he can get his jumper rolling and develop a 15-18 perimeter game, he can run and fill a lane but needs to learn to finish in space.
Now I'm not saying he will be a Hoofer in the NBA but don't discount the kid, he's met every challenge for 3 years at the highest level of competition and that speaks for itself. No-one will outwork him and that is one of the few things that can separate him from the pack at any level. He'll have an easy 10 year career if he goes to a good team that won't need to him to be a #1 or #2 guy the first couple years.
