As a outside opinion & loyal Raider Fan,
I have to agree with LightsOut. There is no way Campbell will drop that low to the 27th pick, teams like Tennessee and Minnesota are in need of pass rushing ends as well. I think the real pressing need for the Bolts are to draft a long term OT (Cherilus or Otah) if they are afforded the opportunity to drop that far down.
As much as people would like to say depth at RB and CB are needs, I think DE is where your GM will go. Take a look at the contracts that are going to expire after the season and next. Your all-star defense will have players who will be looking to cash in on their new found success (Castillo and Olshansky). I honestly think DE will be looked at considerably for the long run and possible replacement of either, who just can't seem to shake the injury bug.
CB depth may be adressed later in the draft due to AJ's taking of Paul Oliver in the Supplemental draft last year.
A safety may be a possibility however, do you really think AJ would settle for a FS/SS with the 1 and only pick on the 1st day?
Look for your poker player GM to broker a trade for a 2nd and a 3rd or 4th round pick for his lone 1st round pick at 27. No matter what, I wouldn't question him... you guys aren't where you are today without his questionable moves, like letting favorite clubhouse & veteran leaders go in D. Brees, D. Edwards, Lo'Neal, etc.
I just wish we had a owner who would let his GM & coaches have a say in player personnel.
Just an outside opinion. I'd trade all the Free-Agents we signed and our 1st rounder for your GM any day. Blah!
Oh well, just giving you bolts props on doing it the right way (through the draft)... anyway, i'll still root for my team... Go Raiders!
See you guys at the Q when we invade this upcoming season yet again!
