I'm happy Marcus Giles recanted on playing 3B in Las Vegas. And I hope they don't go and trade for Wes Helms either. I know that they have only played 3 games so far, but this kid Blake Dewitt has shown us nothing that warants him getting replaced. I think that the job should be his until it's obviously hurting the team. And right now he is showing us that he can really play. He makes good contact, he's patient at the plate, and flawless with the glove. He has 3 walks to go along with his 5 hits in 9 at bats. I dont recall him swinging at a pitch yet and not makeing contact. He has yet to strick out. He turned a nice double play on opening day and stole 3rd base in the second game to help win those games. Its nice haveing another young left handed power hitter in the lineup. He's only 22 years old. You never know, this could be the 3rd baseman we have all been looking for the last 25 years?

Well,  He is atleast the 3b of the present but I would still have to say that Laroche is the guy of the future.  Dewitt has no doubt done a great job for the Dodgers so far but he has only played in 3 games.  As soon as he faces enough guys they will have a better report on him and his numbers will decrease some.  He has a good glove and seems to have decent at bats and all of that coming from a guy that got his first carrer hit 4 days ago.  Hope he can keep up the good work till the other 2 can get healthy.  Go Blue!

I hope Blake Dewitt gets 200 hits, 48 HR's and 121 RBI's, then the Dodgers decide that he has no future with the club..anyone remember Adrian Beltre...

Think Blue,

I totally agree. I made similar comments on a different thread yesterday. So far DeWitt has done more than you could have asked. He has delivered when the opportunity presented itself. That means he has earned the right to keep going out there until something changes. Maybe pitchers will start to figure him out the second time around. There are always adjustments to make. But I have to say I am thrilled with his production. He's another name to add to the list of great young talent this team has. It's exciting to look at that and imagine watching these guys compete for championships for years to come. The core of this team is so young and so talented it's scary.

Well, with grain of salt already taken, it's game number 9 and DeWitt has done nothing but impress.  I'm sold on him, being the future thirdbaseman or second baseman (played a little 2B at vero and Jax in '06).  I can see, although, I dont think it will happen, Andy LaRoche being the current Dionar Navarro.  We all know what Martin did to him.

My lineup homage to all of those on here that post them.

  1. X. Paul  CF
  2. C. Hu  SS
  3. Loney 1B
  4. Kemp RF
  5. Ethier LF
  6. Martin C
  7. DeWitt 2B
  8. LaRoche 3B

Talk about home grown talent.  Wow!
