What are the Kings doing? Shouldn't they be losing to keep the number 1 overall pick. Now they have the same points as the Lightening with one more win. I know, that sounds horrible but I have been a KIngs fan since birth. I am now 36 and yet to see a Stanley Cup. So, with the draft being so deep this year I would like the best player please!!!

Don't get me wrong I love watching the Kings win, especially against division rivals. But I do agree, now is not the time. Back in November when they had ten or eleven division games was the time to win. Oh well, hopefully they can still get the number one pick.

Finishing with the worst record in hockey does not guaranty you of getting the 1st overall pick in the draft. It does guaranty that you will get either the 1st or 2nd overall draft pick. The way it works is each team in the NHL is ranked from the worst record to the best record after taking into account playoff results and winning regular season division titles. Then each team has the ability to move up as many as four draft spots from their finishing position, but cannot move back more than one draft position.

If the Kings finish with the 2nd worst record in the NHL, they still could have the 1st overall pick in the draft, but could be no worse than 3rd. This is a very, very deep draft season coming up for the NHL. The Kings have secured with past trades, a significant number of picks in the first several rounds. They are going to do just fine even if they end up with the 3rd pick.

Also remember, a lot of the Kings players are fighting for their NHL careers right now. They have to play hard to hopefully be considered by the Kings coaching staff or other teams for next year. That's why so many non-playoff teams are playing hard right now. The players really don't care about the team's draft pick; they want to have a job in the NHL next year. In fact, let's be honest, the King's coaching staff is fighting for their jobs.

I didn't realize how the draft worked. You are right about the draft being very deep this year. Hopefully with all the picks and maybe a new coaching staff the Kings will make the playoffs next year.

It has been a long time since I have been excited about the Kings season.

I read this morning on the LATIMES website the they are sending Luc to the lottery. They are hoping that his nickname "lucky" works to get the first pick. It sounds like the Kings are still going to get the kid they wanted.

The KINGS need to get rid of Cloutier and resign Esberg. They also need to have a better free agency this year.

GO KINGS!!!!

I agree about the goalies. Ersberg is a rookie and a very good one. If the Kings are going to rebuild you might as well go with the younger goalie. Cloutier is horrible.

GO KINGS!!!

All division rivals better go ahead an get out the golf clubs and start warmin up.. Hey I might be shoot'in off too soon but this team has too much to offer !! So be it if Crawford is fired or gets fired . THE KINGS ARE ON THE CLOCK!!!!!

As far as goalies go, dont forget about Brenier. I say go with Ersberg and Brenier. They have alot of good young talent across the board. Hopefully next year we can enjoy some exciting hockey.

The team is trying to win for us fans who love the Kings. I know that if they don't try to win for us it would disappoint us as fans. But yea I would love to see the team with the #1 pick but it would not be the best thing to do in all sport. The team should try to win every game the team play.

Well now that we know we have the second pick in the draft, what do we do with it. We all know that Tampa Bay will take Steven Stamkos. He is the top rated player in the draft. So do we need offense or a defensive player. Personally i think we an offensive player. Theres a kid taht plays in Russia. His name is Nikita Filatov. I think the Kings will pick this kid. i could be wrong, but we will have to wait and see.
