Doyel, seriously? That was your whole argument?

I never thought I'd say this, but Mike Freeman just kicked your butt.

What are you talking about?  Doyel's sentence sums it all up.  If Freeman's was trying to convince you that the world was flat would you just blow it off as him being an attention seeking  idiot or would you try to explain to him and show him that it isn't? Why waste the time?

Gotta agree with Usefule Idiot!

Why give any validation to Freeman's idiotic article by actually engaging in some type of debate?  Doyel's incredulity and simple statement has more weight than Freeman's 2 pages of garbage.

Yeah the title of this argument alone made it laughable, and I basically only clicked on it because I thought it was a joke...  My guess is that Freeman is trying to get in Sherryl Swoops Pants or something by talking up her sport.  This is ridiculous...  The women's brand of college basketball is like the JV version of how basketball was played back in 1912.  It's pathetic... yeah, some of them can shoot ok, but I can see that at any high school game down the road from me...  I honestly would rather watch _____  (fill in the blank on your own) than women's college basketball.

It's like the most painful thing you've ever seen and I may get called out by someone saying, "well have you ever actually watched an entire game".  And the answer is no, I've tried repeatedly...  But can't get thru an entire half even.  I either fall asleep or grab for the nearest sharp object and try to cut out my eyes, in which case someone usually changes the channel.  I'm not into self mutilation but I'd pick it up as a hobby over watching a subpar, inferior brand of basketball and layup practice.  Maybe they should lower the rim, or make it mandatory that they are all hot and wear cheerleader outfits instead of basketball uniforms, then at halftime, the girls on the team have to do a sexy dance routine instead of wasting good cheerleaders on the bad sporting event taking place? Just a thought.

And Kudos to Doyle for his article... Nothing more needed to be said.

Except Freeman's trying to convince you of something that's actually true. Doyel's position is totally bogus, but then he doesn't even provide an argument.

So I guess the question under your argument is, why did Mike Freeman waste the time typing out an eloquent, thoughtful argument when a simple "Gregg Doyel has no clue what he's talking about" would have been sufficient. The only people who agree with Doyel are those who aren't paying attention. For the last two years, the women's Final Four has been better than the men's. Anyone who says different either didn't watch the women or is lying.

Skyhawk...

You must have a sister, girlfriend, fiance or something playing basketball.  If so, kudos to her but that does make the sport any easier to watch for the rest of us.

As an example...I have a niece and nephew that play soccer.  They are both excellent players and play in club leagues that pay for trainers and travel a lot.  I love watching them play but you will never...ever....get me to say that soccer is an exciting game to watch unless you have a relative playing!

Just because a game is close doesn't mean it is fun to watch.  Women's basketball at the college or pro level is just painful.  I think people have mentioned in other threads that part of being excited in watching a sporting event is being in awe at what the athletes are doing.  I'm not in awe of women's basketball in no way, shape or fashion.

Conversely, if I watch women's tennis or even golf, I'm in awe of what the women can do.  They may not be able to hit the ball as hard or drive as far, but the fact they can hit the shots that they do keeps me engaged.  The same cannot be said for basketball.
