ok be honest how many fans really thought that this was the year the Sabres were going to finally win the Stanley Cup i mean come on the Sabres did have the offense or the defense to make a serious run at it they didn't have the consistent goaltending needed to make a deep playoff run Ryan Miller didn't have the dominating season like he had though he had no one that could fill in for him and i still think that letting go of Ty Conkli9n was the worst offseason move the Sabres made because of that move we didn't have the goalie who could give Miller the needed rest that would give him the stamina to play throughout the playoffs

this is a point I never really got. Overworked? Does that mean all the other guys who played all the games are overworked. I realize other players are not actually on the ice for 60 minutes but goalies also are not getting hit like other players or skating length of the ice like other players. Even if I bought the overworked argument, this never seemed to bother Broduer or Roy. Miller is just vastly overrated by Sabres Fans.

C'mon guys do you really feel Miller is the problem???????
Miller is capable - but is no Hasek.
We had the "team to beat" BUT lost it. Through terrible management.....we have gone from a TEMPLATE to an example of "what not to do".
It has come obvious that with current policies.......we're in trouble.

I can't understand , why are you so ignorance is so out there . First , a goalie wears pads . The pads , weight around 50 to 70 pounds . When they get wet , is goes to about 100 pounds . Now , you think that wouldn't wear you down ? On top of that , a goalie will LOSE about 10 to 20 pounds of weight , in one game . Roy and Broduor never played 30 + games either . They played , at most , 22 to 25 in straight . Think before you talk , you need to learn the fundamentally of the game first . Then you can put in your 2 cents .

That was for total . MY FIRST post . For the first question , Miller was overworked . Plain and simple . A goalie can't play 30 + games . I don't care who you are , that's a lot of STRAIGHT games .

Don't post uneducated messages about the Sabres. I'm assuming you meant they DIDN'T have the offense or defense, while I won't disagree about the defense it is completely uneducated to say their offense wasn't good enough. if you check the standings sometime this year check the goals this team scored. With or without Ty Conklin it came down to our defense. The pair of Lydman and Tallinder must go. These two are so over hyped in Buffalo it's not funny. Lydman is good for 2 to 3 "who was he passing that to" comments a game and Tallinder is a skrawny woose who doesn't hit and can't do a thing to help out on offense. He was once compared to Pronger. There are 2 problems with this, he can't play defense and he can't play offense either! He may be the only defenseman in the entire NHL that doesn't have a slap shot and his passes out of the zone 9/10 times end up in icing. Bottom line is it was our D that was the problem. When you have Weber and Sekera step in and clearly see by the 3rd or 4th game that the coach has more confidence in rookies than his other guys, that is a problem. While I do like Nolan Pratt, I think the bottom line is the minutes that he gave Henrik and Toni was just too many. In that meltdown against Ottawa, probably our season ending game, it was both of those idiots out there and I believe it was Tallinder getting beat on an outlet pass allowing his man to break in on Miller. Here's a little Hockey 101, if your up by 2 and on the power play, NEVER let a guy get behind or to the side of you, always keep them in front......As for Ty Conklin, your hindsight vision is amazing there buddy. Ty didn't do crap for the Sabres last season and if Miller was half the goalie he claims he is he should be able to shoulder a 70 game season, the goalies demanding the money he will want next year can. Bottom line if this guy isn't from the US, the hype is not nearly what it is with him. He has a weak glove, it's always down around his waist and not positioned for the shot, his 5 hole so weak he gets beat top shelve going down to early anticipating a low shot. He's an average goalie to above average that you can expect 50 games from and in this day in age I'd much rather pay a guy 6 mil that can go 70, give the backup like Thibault .5 mil as opposed to paying a guy that can go 50 about 5.5 mil and having to sign a good backup because you know 35 % of the season your playing without your starter because he can't hack it

still Talinder and Lydman though at times terrible were the locker room presence needed to help along the rookie defenseman and if you know how the Sabre system works is that just keep cycling in new younger faster players and get rid of the older more experienced players not saying that old players are bad its just that in todays game you need to speed just yo compete and at this stage in their career Tallinder who is in his 30s and Lydman whose getting up in age are almost at the tail end of their career in Buffalo still they provided some decent leadership if not production and the yound D of the Sabres are raedy to get back in the playoff hunt next year

I did, I did. I definately thought this was the year. Especially with that commercial that Miller did. How can a team go from the conference finals to out of the playoffs in such a short period of time. Who knows. I guess I'll just have to ponder that deep question during the in between periods of the Ranger playoff games

Could you really be that dumb - Brodeur just played his 41st straight game. Perhaps your head hasn't completely defrosted from the long cold winter yet

ok sheshe i got a couple questions, first whats up with your text?? i'm not being condecending its just hard to read your messages and second why would anyone compare what Brodeur and Ryan Miller??????? Miller who though a good young goalie will never have the leadership needed to be able to carry a team on his back like Brodeur did and still does. Miller should be traded and we should use the money that we didn't use to pay him to bring in a good playmaking foward who can handle the puck and make plays on the powerplay and i think Miller has been in Buffalo to long just like Hasak he was an outstanding goaltender but he knew when to leave/retire so i say Miller leave so we can get the money needed to get back into contention
