Worst to first and back in the playoffs. Never before has there been this kind of turnaround in the NHL. With great trade deadline acquisitions like Matt Cooke, Sergei Fedorov and Cristobal Huet, the Caps could contend for the Cup. Alexander Ovechkin is the clear MVP, and Bruce Bodreau should get coach of the year for this turnaround. We consistently won every game we needed two in the last 2-3 weeks, and upended Carolina to take the division. This was the excellent cap to a fabulous regular season. Plus, with such a core of young, great players like Brooks Laich, Mike Green, Alexander Semin, Ovechkin and Nicklas Backstrom, this Caps team has the chance to dominate for years to come. Keep it up, and lets go for the cup!!!!

That was incredible!!
I'm not a huge washington fan, but I think Ovechkin is spectacular. Now I'm just hoping you don't knock my team, the Habs, out of the playoffs in the second round with Huet wanting revenge.
What a run, looking forward to seeing the fired up caps fans in action in the playoffs.

It's been fun watching this turnaround...the anticipation just kept building game after game from the midpoint.
To basically run the table after those tough losses to Boston and Pittsburgh, was more than anyone could have believed...even as well as they were playing.
Thanks to the Caps!

hats off to the Capitals...especially ovechkin....they can do some real damage in the playoffs and its a crime if ovechkin doesnt win the mvp...hes easily the best player in hockey

What a roller-coaster ride it has been this year Caps fans!! I agree that Boudreau should win Coach of the year while Ovie RUNS away with MVP honors. My three impact players down the stretch wer Ovie, Huet and Federov - great moves at the deadline to get Federov and especially Huet who has been lights out lately. Cooke has been steady as well.

It's been one hell of a ride for the Capitals. Now it's time to sit back and see who they draw in the first round. They have played well against both the Senators and Flyers this season but either team would be a tough series.

This run reminds me of the run Caps made in 98. Same exact situation. Caps had to fight for a playoff spot, and once they were in, they couldn't be stopped. They rolled all the way to the Stanley Cup Finals.. Will history repeat itself?

By far the hottest team in the league, at this point. No team in the East is going to be happy to play the Caps.

I am not a Caps fan, as a matter of fact I am a Hurricanes fan but I want to say that watching the turn around and the effort the Caps put into the last part of this season, they deserve to be in the payoffs and they deserve to be the southeast division champions. It is hard to say this since I am going against my team but this is the truth. Carolina could have sealed it but never did and the only chance the Caps had, they jumped on it. Ocechkin is a great player and helped bring the team together so they could get to where they are today. The Washington Capitals will be hard to beat in the playoffs and after watching them the last few months I am rooting for a division rival to win it all. Keep playing hard Caps and make your fans and people like myself proud. Bring the Stanley Cup to Washington.
