UNC was routed because it was not tested during the early rounds of the tournament. It was given an unfair advantage by the NCAA, since it played four home games. UNC also faced inferior competition, save for Louisville, which would have defeated them if the game was played in a neutral court. I know that UNC would be in trouble in a neutral court, because the ACC teams which beat them (UMD, Duke) or came close to do it three times (Clemson) got dismantled by Big East teams. Furthermore, UNC is always at a disadvantage with athletic and physical teams (e.g. Hoyas in 2007). I therefore expected Kansas to handle them easily. In short, UNC was an overrated team, playing in an overrated conference.

I agree with your assessment. The NCAA did not do a favor to UNC, or to any team allowed to play in their home states.  UNC was indeed overrated, and so was the ACC. Vitale and company, who are par of the ACC cheering squad, are discredited.

I don't know whether UNC and the ACC was overrated, but certainly, the Big XII was underrated here.  Remember there was talk about whether the Texas-Kansas winner would even get a number 1 seed prior to the tournament?

Get over it. North Carolina got beat by a better team on a given day. The Tar Heels EARNED the privilege of playing in their home state by coming into the tourney as the #1 team in the country. As did UCLA EARN the privilege of playing near home in their games.

As for inferior competition, they were put into a bracket with Tennessee and Louisville, and were in the only region which had all four top seeds advanced. It seems to get to the Final Four, Kansas had a #12 seed then a #10 seed. UCLA played a #12 to get there, Memphis played a pretty tough tourney after a cake regular season. The bottom line- all 4 teams in the final four did what they needed by beating all put in front of them.

Overrated? Think not. By your logic, Memphis should handle Kansas without a problem because a team that beat Kansas (Texas) got blown out by Memphis. Are you ready to stand by that assumption?

UNC played terrible (and Kansas had a lot to do with that) and Kansas played the best game of their season (and credit due is given).

Why you gotta hate on the team that got beat? Celebrate the winner.

And by the way, with UCLA and UNC out, who the hell is gonna watch?

bbkfan2006 - I share your thoughts on UNC.  Particularly with your assessment of the ACC.  I actually thought Louisville should've taken care of business.  Anyway, the stronger team won and it should be a great final game.  Hats off to Aldrige for his inspired play in this recent game.  Congrats to Memphis who I've thought should've been the number 1 seed in this tournament over UNC.  Enjoy the final game!

UNC lost because Kansas played great basketball until they started choking, which was when UNC came back, and then Kansas played good again and UNC played terrible. UNC started coming back because they kept jacking up treys.

look all you bashing UNC...SHut the PPPP UP.

Bash em i dont care. that still doesn't change the number of banners in the Dean Smith Center. Or the number of wins they have all time. Let Kansas win against UNC they'll choke in the championship just like they have always done.

To Duke fans: keep running that mouth considering we beat yall again on senior night. And won the ACC Championship. Your just made because you got beat by a average WVU team.

To Georgetown fans: your just mad because yall got beat by a very good davidson team.

To Kansas fans: we'll see. It should be an Aww whooping on Monday Night by Memphis.

ok this argument is getting embarassing UNC was unbeaten on the road and on neutral site games and fi playing in your home state was a favor Texas would still be playing despite them being a 2 seed in a region this stupid argument needs to end. UNC played in one of the toughest regions and faced better competition then Kansas did. What happened was the Jayhwaks were a better team last night plain and simple just like Memphis was better then UCLA who didn't have to go too far for their games either.  Get your facts straight or shut up.
