Spend some money, get some real players, start winning some games...
Then I'll get excited about this team. They are the worst team in baseball. Forgive me if I don't rush out to buy a jersey and a hat.

Well now that they have an actual stadium to generate revenue and an owner you bet they will be spending money and keeping the young prospects that they grow in the farm system (or getting newer ones via trades like Milledge and Dukes). I think that was the issue before and in the future we should be able to keep the zimmermans and corderos of the future. Think about what could have been had the Nats been here the whole time. Think about all the names that came from the Expos. Randy Johnson, Pedro Martinez, Vladamir Guerrero. This team would have been stacked if it wasn't stuck in French Canadia. Give it a few years and you'll see. The Nats will be the new Tigers in a few years and totally own the NL East now that the Braves' empire is crumbling.

With more games like tonight's walk off home run win against the first place central Chicago Cubs, the support for this team will definitely grow in due time. Nats put together two in a row, they are an exciting young team to watch.

That's whats wrong with this area. Most people are transplants. I will never forget the senators leaving, but embrace the team while it's losing. It's easy to be a fan when the team is winning. True fans suffer through the bad times too. Case in point Bullets/Wizards.

Went to the game Saturday and delighted in watching them lose. Then they somehow managed to win. What a disappointment. The cost is horrendous for drinks and snacks. Best deal is the CVS across the street. Glad the ticket was a freebie because I would hate to waste money on these guys. Hopefully Braves will clean their clocks over the next two days and they continue their .250 play.

I went to the 2-0 win over the Cubs on Sunday. The Cubs fans were louder, and maybe in greater numbers, than the Nationals fans. Lucky for us the 2-0 score kept a cap on the the Cubs chatter. Mtro69 made some good points a few posts ago. The Orioles probably still take fans away, and some of the old school fans probably refuse to come back to the new DC team. I think the best thing that can happen for the Nationals is that they win. Winning baseball will bring in the fans.
Well, we took 2 of 3 from the Cubs, and split a two game series with the Mets. Maybe the Nationals can get something going. With Atlanta (not playing great), the Pirates and the Astros coming up, maybe the Nationals can get something going.

I was pretty impressed when I went to the DC zoo yesterday. I saw plenty Nats hats which believe it or not, out numbered the amount of Red Sox caps in the crowds (although there were still plenty of those around).
Everywhere I go in the DC metro area I see a few people sporting Nats caps. As the team grows so will the fans. Having the new stadium really helps make it feel like there is baseball in this town.

I live in TN now but I'm originally from MD and remember the Senators very well and the hell we went through with Bob Short as an owner. My observations.....1) glad we took the nick name "Nationals" as the "Senators" twice were moved out of town so let that name stay buried. 2) Attendance seems to be averaging about 30,000 +/- at least according to a Tom Boswell story I read in the Washington Post so I would say that they are drawing fairly well. 3) this team was treated worse than a child by an abusive step parent by the suits at MLB before the Lerners came into the picture. I'm glad old Bud Selig is out of the way and now we can watch Kasten, Bowden, etc really develop a good team instead of patching things up here and there with the budget restraints MLB previously put on the team. 4) Lastly I can't wait for the day when the Nats control their own television package instead of having to send all that revenue up the BW Parkway to greedy Mr. Angelos.

We took three of four from the Pirates, which puts the Nationals at 8-3 in the last 11. The Nats head to Houston for the start of sixteen straight games without a day off. By the end of that, which is series against the Astros, Marlins, Mets, O's and Phillies. I would think that we should have an good idea about if this "turn around" is for real or not. If this winning continues, I think we will see an increase in local support. I agree with the post that stated they are seeing more and more Nat's hats out there. I have seen a lot of Nats gear also. If the Nats keep winning, the support will come.
