That's very true about what you said, how we don't bring vets to struggle and wait for them to warm up. Iguchi has been very hot these last two games, and edmonds... yea. He had a hit? It's kind of sad to see that a 1 hit game is glorious for jimmy now. But the thing is he's coming off an injury. Starting headley now would pretty much say we arn't playing for the playoffs anymore. Its only the begining of may. There is a whole lot of baseball to be played. By mid to late may if we continue at this pace, then we have to make the move to put hairston in center and headley in left.

Honestly though the team isn't looking too bad right now, were a few knocks here in there from winning games. Bullpen looks strong again, starting pitching is always great. Adrian is awesome. And we should have prior to add starting depth in mid june. Theres no where to go but up!

No argument on that. When your favorite team is in last place. It doesn't get any lower. Other than the miss-read on the fly last night Haristons fielding is way better than Edmonds. Hariston had a mini slump, but his bat seems stronger too. I say pull the lever and make the switch now. Hairston in center and Edmonds as a back-up or in  left...Less ground to cover there.

It's sad to say and i know its way to early to say this but i think our season might be over.  With the way the D-Backs are playing all we can hope for is a complete turn around and the wildcard spot.  We'll see how May is, that is historically our best month.

Edmonds was a terrible idea, good hitting seems contagious and he's not helping.   I'm not sure about internal options but seeing the situation with Juan Pierre and the Dodgers, i think that would be a good trade idea if we have someone to swing that deal.  Peavy suggested the signing of Kenny Lofton, and Pierre is basically a younger Kenny Lofton.

jimmy had a good game last night, as did the rest of the Padres. Lets keep watching and see what they can string together

I'm more concerned about having a 38 year old patrolling center field in Petco Park.  II get really nervous every time a ball is hit not directly at him and he has to make a play on the ball.

Well only a month after we all started discussing Edmonds not being right for this team he is cut.  I read somewhere we are eating around 4.75 mil worth of his contract by doing it.  If you ask me, we could have spent that money in keeping Doug Brochail and Geoff Blum who both went to Houston because they were offered a little more money, as well as Milton Bradley who accepted only a million or so more than the Padre's were offering.  I also think it is sad that we were not willing to wait for Mike Cameron to serve his 25 game suspension, yet with Edmonds we pretty much got 25 games worth less than someone who would have been suspended.

Yet he was already in center for the Cubbies today! Unbeliveable huh? AND he went 1 for 4. Still the same old Edmonds leaving 6 on base. It would have been nice if we put him on the block and tried to get a trade at least with him.
