Tennessee Pride

Pat Summit is a great coach, she deserves all of her praise that people give her!  I mean she is a motivator and she clearly loves Tennessee since she dressed in a cheerleaders uniform and sang gold olf rocky top!  I am very please she and Tenn and Candance Parker and the rest of the team won!  Congrats to the Lady Vols!

Close but not quite the all-time win list.

That's John Wooden with 10.

Actually, no, she is the all time wins leader.  wooden has the most NC's, with 10.  Pat Summit can  make a case for the best coach of all time, she is certainly in the discussion.  And depending on how long she coaches, it could be unquestioned.

How 'Bout them Vols!!!! Outstanding coaching job! What a defensive game plan, stop the triangle before it starts. Funny Geno couldn't think of that, guess his ego got in the way. Loved the combination of different presses, the center out front. How athletic was Big Nick! There were some Stanford fans talking trash yesterday, where are they now! Can't remember who said it, but they said no way Tennessee holds Stanford to under 50.Hhmmmm.... Wrong! People were saying Tennessee could not score. Hello, do the so called experts actually watch the games! A&M and LSU are probably the two best defensive teams in the country. Easy to score when you don't play D. But the old addage applies, offense sells tickets, but defense and rebounding wins championships!

Also, don't count the Vols out next year either. Five of the top twenty coming in, five hamburger All-Americans! And several of those young players did not play this year because of all the seniors. Oh by the way, we also have the best COACH!

I do not think they meant more "championships" than any other coach... but more "wins" than any other coach. 

Summit has more wins, Wooden has more championships.   But also note, John Wooden was coaching 30 years ago when there was a bit more ability to dominate the game.  The parity in men's college basketball these days would make it very difficult to have the unprecedented success that he did.   The man is still one of the greatest coaches ever... but what Pat Summit has done, and continues to do... truly makes her one of the greatest coaches of all time.
