Just wanted to see what you guys think. I think it's absurd that the Houston fans boo Albert Pujols every time he comes to bat just because of that bomb he hit against Lidge in the 2005 NLCS. Respect the guy for being a stud, but don't boo him. Seems a little childish to me.

I was waiting for someone to post about this topic.  How do you boo a guy who has done nothing but good for baseball?  You never hear a bad word from him or about him.  His teammates and the rest of the MLB players always talk good about him.  I totally agree with you tomahawk, pretty classes by the Astros fans just because Pujols hit bomb off of Lidge that is probably still going.

I was in Houston last night for the game.

For the most part, most of their fans are lacking class! They heckled any and all Cardinals fans before, during, and after. I was cussed at more than a few times, and whatever, i can take it. What annoys me is when i'm being told F the Cardinals while there is a 7 or 8 year old there to witness it. Luckily for them, i'm not speaking of my 7 or 8 year old, or the loud mouth would quickly find out what a F-ing fist tasted like.

As for the booing of El hombre, well, it's a sign of fear and respect! Boo long and hard 'stros fans!

And for the stadium atmosphere, i grade it at an F! I thought i was at a NBA game or a night club. No organ music, no baseball music, just generated beats and techno. It sucked!

The only good thing about it, the roof was open for the game.

The first and only game I have seen at the new park in Houston, I got the exact same treatment.  This was before the Pujols bomb, and still the fans were very rude.  I as well caught the F bomb from several of their fans.  I just am happy to be a part of a true fan base that appreciates good baseball.  Didn't we give Biggio a standing o at the final game last year. I was there and I stood along with everyone else and applauded him, his, career, and all of his accomplishments.   How many times in his career did he do damage to Cardinal pitching?  Bottom line is they are classless and bitter!!

Let's win this one tonight to take 2 of 3 and keep them at the basement of the Central.

It wouldn't surprise me if they closed the roof for tonight's game.  They always seem to do that against the Cards even when it is nice weather there just to them that extra edge by making it louder.  I am glad that they no longer will be able to play that stupid buzzing sound for the Killer B's since Berkman is the only one left of them.

I remember a couple years ago a division rival hit a career milestone HR (I'm pretty sure it was when Ken Griffey Jr. hit his 500th career HR) it was at St. Louis. Cardinal Nation gave him a standing O as he was rounding the bases! If he had hit it in Houston, he probably would have been booed!

I know the traditional rivalry is with the Cubs, but I get just as much satisfaction from a "big red 'W'" over the Stros as anybody, and I HATE to lose to them.

I agree with you on that.  I think the 2 years when the Cards and Astros met in the playoffs that made me enjoy that rivalry as much as the Cubs rivalry.   I do have more respect the Cubs fans just cause they are as passionate about there team as we are about ours.   You go to a Cubs vs Cards game and it is fun to be at and you can talk trash about each others team but then leave with a congrats and a hand shake.   Now the Astros fans just think they are better than everyone else and don't even want to have a conversation with you.
