i read today in one of the NY papers that Ozzie rated the immortal and beloved Roberto Clemente as the "third best player to come from Puerto Rico"i stopped reading the article right away so i don't know whom heput ahead of Clemente(I Rod may have been listed somewhere)I don't know Clemente's stats that well  from his magnificent career unfortunately he died when i was 6 years old so all i haveto go on is what i've seen on tape and what others have told me,mainly my dad and what he told was this"no one had a arm like RC,he used to throw guys out from right field BEFORE and AFTER they rounded first base,NO ONE ran from first to 3rd like RC,it was like his legs were seperate from his upper body almost freakishly weird,i believe he hit safely in ALL  14 world series games he played(i think he hit 400. in the 60' and 71' fall classics)and the one thing more than any other that my dad,who coached me in both basketball and baseball told me about RC was"every time a pitcher brushed him back,he never dusted himself off,he simply lined the next pitch right back over the pitcher's head!"Man,what i would give to have not only seen him play, but listen to the great Bob Prince talk about"Bobby"roaming the outfield at Forbes Field and briefly at 3 Rivers,Ozzie can have the other 2,I'll take Clemente and sleep in peace,i hope somewhere he is doing the same

Most players can run from first to third easily nowadays. The faster ballplayers can go from 1st to home if you make a mistake. Takes only about 3.4 seconds from one base to the next compared to Clemente's days of ~4.1-4.5.

You guessed I.Rod. Robby Alomar is the other.

No matter what anyone says, Clemente is the equal or better than the other 2 guys.

A Rod is a FABULOUS talent........but has yet to prove he can lead a team to the World Series victory.

Robby Alomar was a fabulous talent....but he broke down, near the end, and had a rather ignominius

 ending to his career.

Clemente was a fabulous player every year he played. He never let his team down and, yes, your Dad

was right.......NO ONE HAD AN ARM FROM RIGHT like Clemente.

I grew up in the 50's and 60's. Al Kaline was my favorite player. He was a GREAT right fielder from

Detroit. But even he didn't have the ability and arm in right that Clemente did.

At the plate, like your Dad said, Clemente was CLUTCH. He was fearless.

I would take him over ANY OTHER player from Puerto Rico or, frankly, from

just about anywhere.

ALso he could be described in one word..........CLASSY.

ALomar was also classy. A ROd, it is hard to tell......I would rather call him pretty boy than CLASSY.

Clemente was, is, the BEST from Puerto RIco.

Dude, he said I-rod, as in Pudge Rodriguez. Not A-rod.
