Everyone said Kansas won because of "great" coaching. No, they won because of "bad" coaching, by John Calipari. Everyone knew that you had to fould Memphis if they were up late. Michigan State, Texas & UCLA tried to but obviously it didn't work. It's not as if Self created this great scheme to blow a lead, then have Memphis' biggest player foul on 25 feet from the rim, then get a lucky steal, then have Memphis miss 4 of 5 free throws.
Self couldn't get it done at Illinois and he was just lucky their was a coach worse than him on the other end. I am not saying he is a bad coach, but please stop giving him credit for executing a great game plan at the end of the game.
If the numbers are correct and OSU is offering the money being reported, then he should go. It can only get worse from now on. Only more pressure. They ran Roy Williams out of town, who's to say the same won't happen to Self?

If Self had left I would have actually felt bad for Kansas having that happen to them twice in a row...
This may be Kansas' most productive season ever, a national championship, vindication over Roy, and keeping their coach, too bad my Tar Heels had to go through the buzz saw to make it happen

Only difference is Roy left tradition to go to tradition and SLim Pickens figured out money can't buy tradition. Nice post, lol.

Alright, seriously. I'm getting really sick of hearing how Calipari lost the title game. Was Calipari on the free throw line? If Memphis fouls Chamlers and he hits the three, it would have never gone into overtime. Memphis' players choked the game away.
Self couldn't get it done at Illinois? Are you serious? If I remember correctly, the Illinois team that went unbeaten until the final was recruited by Self. Bruce Weber has done a great job since then, recruiting his own players, hasn't he?
Bill Self won 32 games and went to the Elite 8 at Tulsa. Tulsa!
They ran Roy Williams out of town? You might be the biggest idiot that has ever posted anything on this website. Seriously. Get a freaking clue, dude.
And change your screen name. You are giving Nebraska football a bad name.
Bill Self might be the best coach in college basketball. Book it.

I think everyone see's him as a GREAT coach....except for you and maybe a very small amount of others.
He's said for a long time being the Kansas Men's Basketball Head Coach was his dream job. Not Oklahoma State. Not many people get to actually work their "dream job." I'm very happy that Kansas can provide that for him.

Here's my response to that...
What?
Roy Williams did not get run out of town. He left.
Couldn't get it done at Illinois? He made the Elite Eight at a school that had only done that twice in the past 25 years or so.
His team won a conference tournament.
Calipari's coaching wasn't bad. He is a great coach. Things did not work out down the stretch. Was Clemson's coach a bad coach because his team could not quite hold off UNC this year? If getting to the National Title game is bad coaching, tell me what you think good coaching is? You have absolutely no idea why Calipari made the decisions that he made. When you are in his shoes, then you call his decisions bad.
If you want to say the coaches made some bad decisions, fine. But one failure does not make someone bad at something.
For example, if you were a terrific businessman, and you clearly told someone how you wanted a presentation put together for a big business meeting and then that person shows up without the presentation done on the day of the meeting, though you had done everything in your power to make sure that the person was ready, was it your fault?
A coach cannot control everything.
