Derrick Caracter

Ive been hearing that DC want to come back to louisville, but pitino wont let him. He doesnt want to deal with his attitude problems.

Is this true???

I think the only people who could possibly know that are Pitino and Caracter.  Anything else would be speculation.  When is the NBA draft?  I'm sure Caracter will know very soon after attending a few camps and workouts  where he stands.  I  think Caracter may have had an issue attending class this spring, which could affect whether or not he played next year anyway.

I could see Caracter staying, and wouldn't be surprised.  A disappointing showing at the camps could bring him back down to reality very quickly.  My question would be, where would he fit in next year?  I would love to see him play more power forward.  I still think he's the best mid-range jump shooter on the team.  I'd love to see more of that part of his game.  But Pitino said he doesn't like to play him at forward, only center, because his defense is so bad, especially in the press.

I have been reviewing all the games i recorded this season and watching Character is really interesting. I keep hearing what great hands he has and yet more than 75% of the passes thrown to him he drops. He is constantly beaten up and down the floor. How is he going to survive in the pros?  He doesn't begin to know anything about defense hense the fouls.  Pitino uses him the way he does because standing in one place and asking for the ball is about all he appears capable of contributing. He actually started passing the ball on occasion by the end. I have seen exactly three mid range jumpers that he shot. One missed one was blocked and one went in. He was constantly stuffed around the rim and dosen't seem to be able to finish consistantly. He may be a different player one on one but then when is that ever going to happen when he doesn't run the floor in transition? His hope is at Center but when he played against the better ones this year he constantly got hammered. Yes he does well getting position but he doesn't hold onto the ball consistantly. Nobody is going to babysit someone who after two years has shown so little progress. Pitino hurt this team spending all the energy he did coddling him and having him disrupt things. The fitting signature to his college career was the last play of the first half of the NC game. He gets the ball and can't finish and when a foul isn't called throws a fit. Check it out if you like.

I keep hearing what a great guy DC is. I hope he is a better person away from the sport. Bringing him back would only perpertate a disciplinary problem for the entire team. With really quality younger players coming in why would you want that? I believe that his relationship with Clark slowed them both developmentally and definitely contributed to Clarks leaving.  DC was a waste of everyone's energy. I hope Pitino learned something.
