WTF deadbone?!?!?
I started this thread with a title AND a post that said the Fyers solidly beat the Caps. Exactly how does that make ME a loser??
I have posted nothing here to take any credit away from the Flyers. I have stated the Caps weaknesses where I saw them. Nothing negative related to the Flyers. Perhaps YOU are the one who should "learn your talk."

PSUSC,
8 is a Pens Troll, meaning he posts anywhere & everywhere he can and ridicules players & fans of teams other than the Pens. He pretty much thinks Ovechkin shouldn't be in the league, let alone be considered one of its best players. That points to his instability.

I think that this is 100% anyone's series right now. As a Flyers fan, I hope that they continue to play as well as they did today. But the bottom line is they completely outshot the Capitals, yet it was Biron that looked amazing, telling me that the Caps were getting better chances with fewer shots, which scares me a bit. So far, I think we have had 2 pretty good games and it should be a great series the rest of the way.

Well, well, well....where did over8ed's MVP-type play go??? He pulled a magical disappearing act. Caps look like crap. They are done. 14 shots in the last 2 periods when they needed to step it up. Yea looks like a Cups team to me...HAHAHA....Over8ed is not ready for playoff hockey. Now they are done because the momentum not only shifts to Philly, but so do the next two games. Caps will be down 3-1 when they go back to D.C. Way to step it up MVP!!!! Not an MVP performance in my book. HAHAHA...Where are all the high-stepping Caps fans now?? Crying their little eyes out probably. Good shutdown by the Flyers. Doesn't take much though to shut down a one man team though. But props given regardless!
Yeah, I don't know what everyone was thinking. If a guy has a bad game, there's no way he's any good. Of course every good player worth his salt plays well every game. It's impossible for the great players to have off days. Ovechkin should definitely not be the MVP!! I mean how can you name someon MVP who has one bad game? The MVP is obvioulsy the guy in the league who never has a bad game and helps his team win every single game that they play. So, I guess that means the award goes to...no one!
I'm not sure whether you realize it, but this series is a best of 7 games. That means that one team is allowed to lose up to three games, and guess what? They can still win the seires. I'm glad the Caps played as badly as they did. there's no way they will go all they way and win every game and play well all of the time. It was nice that they played so badly. Get it out of their system, and come back strong next game.
I do hope the Flyers think like you, though. It would be nice for them to completely underestimate the Caps and Ovie. That way it would make it that much easier on us the rest of the way.
And, by the way, were you projecting when commenting that Caps fans were crying after this, because that's what you were doing after Friday's loss?

The Flyers looked very solid today. I'm not surprised to see this series tied at 1. Washington had a ton of momentum going in, and the fans were crazy for the first game. But they are very young, have been playing over their heads just to make the playoffs, and completely ran out of gas and lost to a Flyers team that played a much better game in every department. I really see the Flyers taking game 3, and the fans in Philly will be loud. Maybe that will wake the Caps back up, but maybe the momentum will be too strong in Philly's favor.
But big kudos to the Flyers for a complete, solid game today.

I don't about this little back and forth between the team's fans going on here, but this thread was started by a Caps fan saying the Flyers took it to the Caps today and deserved the win. He then had the same confidence Flyers fans have in saying he still thinks Wash can win. Nothing wrong with that and good on him for giving the credit.
Hey CapsAndSawx, I AM a Flyers fan, but I actually think this was the second game in a row that the Flyers took it to the Caps. They just didn't gaff like they did in game 1. I think Wash deserves a lot of credit for both being where they are and for their valiant effort to be tied in this series. I am NOT saying Philly is gonna win this in 5, or 6 or whatever, but I do think no matter who wins, the Flyers are the better team. Wash has THE better player(s), but not the better team. Doesn't mean they can't ride that better player, they have succeeded in doing so already.
I will, with all that said, say that as a Flyers fan I am NOT getting too over-confident because they won one game, and I don't think you are necessarily right to say that 1 or 2 weaker games means the winds are out of your Caps sails, the Flyers had a rebound game today and game three may tell something else one way or the other (I realize that is obvious - but you know what I am saying!). The one thing the Caps maybe need to worry about is the goaltending situation, as the Flyers just ended a long win streak for Huet and were the first to beat him more than 3 times since he became a Cap, and in different games. At the same time, it might mean that Biron is going to have to be as good as today if Huet can step it back up (I know his save totals ended up great in the end but were big time enflated due to those last to PP's).
The place I would be worried as a Caps fan is that other than ONE shift, Stevens did a magnificent job (and I have been a huge critic of his) in line matching, etc. and that was on the road. Boudreau proved he either has one HUGE thing to work on or he is arrogant. Either way, will be interesting to see how his works out in Philly where Stevens gets the so-called advantage.
Regardless, the Caps earned a spot in the PO's and are an extremely exciting combattant, but if the Flyers have truly found the/a way to shut down #8, the better team will win this series (I do not mean that as a d*ck) and with all of their testicles at that!!
Go Flyers!

One game a series does not make...Flyers out-hustled, out-forechecked, and out-played the Caps today..plus having a goalie standing on his head helped out a bunch....but as a Flyers fan this series will go to 6 games...

well said crusader.
The Caps have only controlled the first 10 minutes & last 7 minutes of game one. The Flyers have controlled most of the remaining game time, with some of it pretty even. Biron was amazing today, altho I think the Caps rushed about 1/3 of their shots & put them right into Marty's chest. The Flyers' penalty kill & the way they had a D-man & a forward assigned to shut him down were probably just as huge as Biron. Come on game 3, THIS is playoff hockey!

sonictemple & sparta,
If you guys keep this up people are gonna stop posting ;-)
really tho, well done. I think you both captured it perfectly, AND you showed that it's possible to be a fan without being a fanatic. When you look 20 men deep, I think the Flyers have a little more cohesiveness and have a slight edge in overall talent. Stevens did a remarkable job of line matching & it should be easier to do that the next 2 games in Philly. It will be interesting to see if Boudreau rolls AO some extra shifts & maybe lightens his special teams shifts in order to do so.

We are a young playoff team and showed it today. When we got behind, instead of playing as a team, they played more as individuals trying to personally win the game. I have never seen so many attempts of one of our guys trying to push through 3 players instead of passing it off. That will need to be corrected if we plan on advancing!

Well folks, I, the "Pens Troll" am back. Damn I leave the interntt for 2 hours and mad people hat me now! HA! Of course I have the Caps fans hating on me!
I NEVER said Ovechkin sucks. I just flat out think the kid is a tad over8ed, thats all. Where was intensity today? He was invisible. If he's gonna be a silly tard all the time on the ice, then keep it up and do what your fans expect. DON'T DISAPPEAR!! I watched that whole and rarely noticed him. That doesn't bode well for the Caps.
Do I travel from thread to thread? Yes I do, because I am a huge hockey fan, and basically hate the Caps, and that entire area of the country. I have my reasons, but oh well. I have said before, I am not a Flyers fan, but I picked them this series in 4-5 games. They have a SOLID 3 lines and are a threat to anyone in these playoffs. Did I want to see them in round 1 vs. my Pens? No way! Next series though it's looking good. I'll take that. Caps are not a BAD team, but they are not ready. They need depth, and they need Ovechkin to start being a TEAM player and not pull a Minnesota RANDY MOSS!!!!!!!!! Flyers in 5.

i'm a philly phan but its easy to tell you're just a h-8-r. i was at game 1 and caps fans were cool to me as a philly fan which i did and did not appreciate, if that makes any sense. i don't like being pitied, which also means to say that after that 5-4 loss i still like the Flyers in 5 or 6. The bottom line is this, because the caps and a lot of other teams like the flyers are young its gonna take a few years before anyone can make definitive statements about who is and who isn't a playoff game changing player in this league. just as long as cindy crosby goes down i'm good with that which i guess also makes me a h-8-r as well. cheers philly phans!!!!

8 - you have me sooo confused. You have said the Caps are a 1 man team, then you say AO should be a team player & not a "Randy Moss."
Here is a direct quote:
"Ovechkin is completely over8ed and will turn out no better than Alexander Mogilny or Pavel Bure or Slava Kozlov. Please. Give me a break. He is not an MVP because he makes NO ONE around him better. He is a selfish player and I am glad the Penguins got the #2 pick and got Malkin instead. You people are morons just like everyone else that resides in D.C."
that's more than "a bit overrated." I'm glad you are backpeddling a bit. Perhaps there's still hope for you. I'm not asking that you become a Caps fan, just that you be somewhat less ridiculous in your statements. Maybe then you will have credibility here.

The Flyers played really well. I think they have the edge right now because they won a game on the road in the playoffs, thats when momentum shifts. The Flyers played a great game, but it is still anyones series. All Washington has to do is win a game in Philly to get the momentum back.
