Kansas State freshman Michael Beasley is headed to the NBA after one season in college, according to sources close to the situation.
Beasley will make an official announcement at 5 p.m. CT in which he will announce his intentions to declare for the NBA Draft. Sources told FOXSports.com that Beasley will eventually sign with an agent and is expected to be either the No. 1 or No. 2 pick.
"He will hire an agent in the future," the source said. "He's just not sure who it will be yet."
The 6-foot-9 forward averaged 26.2 points and 12.4 rebounds this season and led Kansas State to the second round of the NCAA tournament.
Beasley's teammate, athletic freshman Bill Walker, is expected to declare for the NBA Draft, also, but won't sign with an agent.
The 6-foot-6, 220-pound Walker suffered through a thumb injury prior to the season and struggled early in the year. However, he averaged 16.1 points and 6.3 rebounds and shot 31 percent from three-point land.
The NCAA Champions Kansas Jayhawks wont have to worry about Beasley anymore
The way Beasley put up monster numbers was because all he did was just stand down low. I could get 10 and 10 just standing there the whole game and getting the ball fed to me like crazy. Only difference is Beasley got 30 and 20 alot of games. Hes a very good player but wont get rebounds and points the same way in the NBA than he did at kstate this year. I see him being a bust.
I think he'll do well in the NBA, but won't be as good as a lot of people think. I got in an argument one time with some K-State fans because I said that Durant was and is better then Beasley. All they had to say was, "Are you kidding, look at his PPG and RPG, he beat out Durant in every category." I think they failed to realize though how different the teams where that each guy played on. Texas already had a strong team with other great players. Beasley was able to shine on K-State because Walker and him where basically the whole team. I know they had a few other guys who could score but Beasley had a lot more time to run up his numbers than Durant did.
I know this is a little off the subject of this thread but my point is that while Beasley is a great player, there are many others who will probably do just as well as him in the NBA, especially guys like Rush and Arthur. Although I hope they decide to stay at KU another year. What do you guys think?
Amen on that. Beasley is NO WAY close to as good of a shooter as Durant was. Statistics dont mean anything. Ive never in my lifetime seen a player as good as Durant.
