I would certainly hope not.  Matt Giordano is too slow to be a starting free safety in this league and I've seen him get put harmlessly on his arse too many times by RB's to respect his tackling skills..
The bad thing is, is that he's actually serious when he says this. I really question how much you actually watch this Colts team as opposed to being a "highlight" guy. This guy pretty much always comes through with a big play when he's playing.

Damn near running down Hester when being 20 yards behind at the start is not fast enough? Leading the team in tackles with 9 and an interception when the Colts got embarrassed 2 years ago in Jax and you don't respect his tackling skills? He was the only guy who showed up on defense to play that day. I guess him laying Desmond Clark out on the 25 causing him to fumble in the Superbowl isn't good enough either.

I really question your judgment at times because you hold people like Corey Simon, who could barely contribute 13 games out of 5 year contract who really didn't do a damn thing to begin with, in such high regard yet Giordano who comes in and does everything he's supposed to and more he gets placed on the bottom shelf. Look I like Bethea as much as everyone else does but if you were to give Giordano the starts and play tiem that Bethea has I would bet there would be no drop off in production from the FS position. Hell just go compare their stats. Giordano started in a 1/3rd of the games Bethea did and he compiled damn near EXACTLY a 1/3rd of the stats that Bethea did. I guess I shouldn't use stats because your more of an opinions type of guy as I've seen from most of your posts.

This being based off of last year.

So you say that I only pay attention to highlights, and you defend your guy by bringing up.... a highlight.

Interesting.  I didn't see that many big plays out of Giordano this year, unless you count special teams tackles as big plays...

Damn near running down Hester when being 20 yards behind at the start is not fast enough?

So what does he get for that, a cookie?  I love how we are now giving credit to players that ALMOST make plays now...  Are they giving points for that in the NFL these days?

Leading the team in tackles with 9 and an interception when the Colts got embarrassed 2 years ago in Jax and you don't respect his tackling skills?

No, and for a few reasons.

1.  That game was two years ago and we lost it.

2.  When your safety leads the team in tackles its rarely ever a good thing.  Unless you got a guy like Bob Sanders that attacks the LOS against run plays, (which Giordano is NOT that type of safety) your safety leading the team in tackles means generally that the team was giving up a lot of big plays (or targeting the safety as a weakness in the pass defense).  So all Giordano was doing was tackling a guy who already had already in most cases made the first down.  Big whoop

3.  He's just a guy.  See also: Gibson, Josh (basically the same type player)

I guess him laying Desmond Clark out on the 25 causing him to fumble in the Superbowl isn't good enough either.

I may be mistaken, but I don't see any official stats for Giordano in the Superbowl...  So obviously it wasn't good enough to get recorded in the historic stat sheet.

Maybe you can show me that somewhere?

I really question your judgment at times because you hold people like Corey Simon, who could barely contribute 13 games out of 5 year contract who really didn't do a damn thing to begin with, in such high regard

You mean besides him being responsible for teams running less against us than we have previous or post his being here?  I mean for any REAL Colts fan, its well known that stopping the run has been a major pain point for us in Indy.. he played a big part in fixing that problem, which is why we had our best defense EVER when he was here.

but if you were to give Giordano the starts and play tiem that Bethea has I would bet there would be no drop off in production from the FS position.

Really?  So why isn't Giordano starting right now?

Hell just go compare their stats.

LoL.  Stats don't tell the whole tale my man... do you ever watch the games yourself or do you just look @ stats and guess at what they mean?

I guess I shouldn't use stats because your more of an opinions type of guy as I've seen from most of your posts.

Nah, you can go ahead and use stats if you like, just the ones you have used haven't proven anything.  If Giordano was such a valuable piece to this team he would see the field more than just when someone else was hurt or for special teams.

He's slow... he's not good in coverage.. and he isn't a great tackler.

He is what he is.... a bench player.

wow BCB, im impressed.  such restraint!  the only person attack you laid on bleedblu was implying that he isnt a real Colts fan (which you do to any colts fan who doesnt agree with you).  nice to see you are growing up a little.

So what does he get for that, a cookie?  I love how we are now giving credit to players that ALMOST make plays now...  Are they giving points for that in the NFL these days?

if he want one, i will sure buy him one.  but its not just that he "almost" made the play.  it's that the play was already dead.  hester had already scored...he just hadn't crossed the goal line yet.  giordano, however, didn't give up on a play that most players would.  he gave it all he had to try and catch hester, and had the field been 5 yards longer, he would have.  that is something to be proud of (not the trying and failing, but the trying when most wouldn't have).  the guy has an incredible work ethic and is very dedicated, which isn't something that many possess in the nfl these days.

You mean besides him being responsible for teams running less against us than we have previous or post his being here?  I mean for any REAL Colts fan, its well known that stopping the run has been a major pain point for us in Indy.. he played a big part in fixing that problem, which is why we had our best defense EVER when he was here.

corey simon was a terrible signing (hence our front office calling signing him "a mistake" when he was finally released).  and since when have the colts had the best defense ever?  look, i love our team, but our defense in recent years, as great as it's been, still doesn't hold a candle to the great ones of the past (steel curtain, purple people eaters, etc).  i love listening to some of the ridiculous claims you make.  very entertaining.  nice work.

LoL.  Stats don't tell the whole tale my man... do you ever watch the games yourself or do you just look @ stats and guess at what they mean?

hahahaha, do you ever watch the games man?  you claim giordano is slow!  how can you have that opinion unless you are only looking at box scores and highlights?

ill leave the rest for bleedblu to take care of.  i wouldn't want to steal the fun of pointing out your idiotic logic from him more than i already have.

So, BcB, you think Giordano is slow.  I'll give you a stat and a game situation that proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that you're wrong.  At his pro day workout, he ran a 4:52 WITH a torn pectoral muscle.  Granted, 4:52 isn't blazing speed, but have you ever tried to run fast without using your arms?  Somebody who doesn't have blazing speed DOES NOT run down Devin Hester from behind.  Giordano is every bit as fast as Sanders.

Damn near running down Hester when being 20 yards behind at the start is not fast enough?

So what does he get for that, a cookie?  I love how we are now giving credit to players that ALMOST make plays now...  Are they giving points for that in the NFL these days?

He may be a backup to Bethea, but he's one hell of a good backup, and he hits just as hard as Bethea, who's no Millie himself.  Your argument that you don't want the safeties to have a lot of tackles doesn't wash either.  If you have any understanding of the Cover-2, not only are the corners responsible for covering covering the out routes, they also have to be able to help cover the runs and screens out wide.  While they're doing that, the safeties have to cover over the top, with the strong safety having additional run support responsibilities.  Oh, that's right.  You also think Jackson and Hayden are just average.  Sanders finished 2nd in tackles, Hayden 3rd, Jackson 4th, and Bethea 6th.  That secondary finished 2nd in pass D even though, later in the season, they weren't getting the pass rush help the Cover-2 is so dependent on.

Big whoop

It's statements like that along with the Corey Simon comments, that make me think you don't have a clue as to what you're talking about.  Simon finished 10th in tackles behind Brock who was playing DE at the time (finished 7th), and Reagor who finished 9th.  And that defense finished 11th in total defense (3rd last year), 16th against the run (15th last year), 15th against the pass (2nd last year), and 2nd in scoring D (1st last year).

So, it just seems to me, anytime I read one of your posts, you're putting down Colts players, making fun of people who seem to know a heck of a lot more about what they're talking about than you, and doing a whole lot of talking out of your a s s.

That was in response to your statement that Matt is slow, not trying to make a point that he almost made a play.  As usual, you had a brilliant reply.  And for the record, I'm impressed by a hustle play like that even if he didn't stop the TD.
