I will give you a tentative starting 5 as, even though the season is one game from being over for the Heat-- It is unclear what the teams plans are in free agency and the draft.
C- Mark Blount- I expect Blount to be back either as the starting center if one is not pursued in the draft or free agency. At the very least, Blount will be a back-up on this team, as he has surely earned it throughout these rough times and also after Shaq was traded and most notably when Zo went down.
PF- Udonis Haslem- This summer he will surely heel from his devasting injury and will be back inform next season.
SF- Shawn Marion- He can opt out of his contract, but he would be walking away from a hefty amount of money, and though he has already established himself as a solid player in this league I am sure he wouldn't want to walk away from so much money.
SG- Dwyane Wade- Ricky Davis, if and when he is brought back and he is deserving of it-- Would make a good back up to Wade
PG- Marcus Banks, Daequan Cook or Chris Quinn-- I expect us to lose Jason Williams to free agency or a trade, so unless this is a position we address through the draft-- The guys I mentioned will be competeing for a starting spot.
Draft Priorities are as follows:
1. PG- This a position the Heat must address without question in the draft,
2. SF-- In case we lose both Ricky Davis and Shawn Marion
3 PF-- In case Udonis Haslem is not fully healed and again if we lose shawn Marion
4 C- I think Earl Barron will be brought back in a back up role because he has earned it, and also does not have a demanding contract-- But with the possibly loss if Zo to retirement and Mark Blount to trade or Free Agency, C is a priority for the Heat.
5- SG, we have Wade, Davis and Marion if brought back all can play the same position; along with Cook.
There have been so many injuries to this team, and there is so many uncertainties as to who is coming back that it is really way too early to predict what the starting five will consist of outside of Wade. Lets wait and see what happens in the draft at least and come back to this question after that.
