Cledarly you are not a fan of NBA basketball, much less the Seattle Sonics
THer Sonics have a history in Seattle.
They won a title there.
(Did you know that??)
They have players and a fan base which brought 16,000+ fans, average, last year.
If they want to move a team, why not Atlanta where they have NEVER drawn over 13,000 (in the seat)
customers a season.
Never had a sniff at a championship.
Quick, think of ONE great Atlanta player from BEFORE.
(Oh, yea, Wilkins......great slam dunk champ........does not make a great player)
Better yet, as Shaq said, OKLAHOMA should get in line, at the end, like all the others
who want a team.
Amen Shaq. Also remember what Shaq said when, hopefully never, his kid asks him,
who are the OKLAHOMA CITY SONICS>
"No such team." Enough said.

I'd like to see the Sonics stay in Seattle. In the best of all worlds the Sonics should stay put. Realistically, until something is done about the lease and improvements to the place they play it's only a matter of time before they leave. The Sonics have a great past and a good fan base but you can't live in the past anymore. Either build them a new arena or let them go. It's sad that sports has come to this but it is what it is. A business. Step up to the plate and do what has to be done to keep your team where they belong Seattle. Otherwise, let them go.

For the fans in Seattle, I hope he wins...but I also think the suit is total BS. He's a putz who sold his favorite team to an out of towner. He deserves exactly what he got...but the Sonics fans don't, so like I said, I hope he wins.

So give them a chance to fully work this out. The legislature has said they wanted to discuss this further, but were not interested in calling a special session just for this. If they leave before next year and don't have a chance to even discuss it, how is that giving the whole process a full-faith effort? The lease runs through next year, so that should be 12 more months to work out a deal.I'd like to see the Sonics stay in Seattle. In the best of all worlds the Sonics should stay put. I'm not trying to bust your balls but YOU, my friend, clearly don't know YOUR NBA history. Dominique Wilkins led the league in scoring in 1986 with a 30.3 average. He was a 9-time all-star, NBA Hall of Famer and amassed over 26,500 career points. His career scoring average is right at 25ppg, rebounding at 7rpg, his FG% was 46 and FT% was 81. That equates to a "great" player. Care to disagree?

HurricaneBrian, I'd love to see them work it out. But remember it takes time to build a new arena. Once the lease runs out another arena doesn't just get built overnight. Complaint's about the lease and getting a new arena were being brought up before and nothing has yet to be done. If you owned a business and someone was offering you a much better deal, a chance to be profitable again, and a chance to succeed instead of being in the basement in your field if you relocated. And then you give the current place that you operate a business a chance to do something about it and they say it'll be another year before we even talk about it(not even a promise that something will be done). Meanwhile, the lease for your unprofitable location is about to run out in a year what would you want to do? It's sad what's happening in sports. It's sad what the ticket prices are these days. Personally, I think the Sonics need to honor the lease agreement and stay another year but you're probably going to lose them. Waiting to the last minute was a mistake by the legislature. Something should have been done already. The taxpayers are basically being held hostage to the situation and the fans suffer. A decision needed to be made on how important is sports to the taxpayer. I fear it might be too late to make that decision. This is the world we live in now.

Why does me wanting to see Clay Bennett and Starbuck Shultz fight in a cage match not make me a fan of the NBA? I am a fan of the NBA and that is why I want to see owners like these two kick the crap out of each other. They embody everything that is wrong with the NBA and pro sports in general. I wish I had the money to buy a team, threaten to move unless I get a better arena and then once I get the arena I sell my team because now it is worth more. Paid for by the hardworking tax payers and fans.
