As the 2008 season approaches what about this year's team concerns you most?  I am looking forward to a great year with nearly everyone coming back but the Bucks will definately need to step it up a notch from last year if they are to win the NC.

I'm worried about soft zone schemes holding them back against the USC's and the Florida's.  I am also worried about the fact that our defense did not get that many turnovers but OSU seemed to give up quite a few.  I am also concerned about the fact that it's college football and anything can happen on any given Saturday.  I'm also concerned that Michigan might be a duplicate of 1969.

1.  QB Todd Boeckman - stop underthrowing the deep ball!!
2.  Defense's aggressiveness, esp. defensive line.  Get after it boys - stop laying back and ATTACK!
3.  Turnover margin.  Protect the ball on offense; Get some T/Os and picks (A. Russell) on D
4.  Finishing strong.  2 years in a row the Bucks D has wilted at the end of the year.
5.  Kicking game.  Too many blocked/botched FGs/XPs last year.

What I'm excited about:
1.  Secondary.  Should be very very good this year.
2.  Running game.  Could be absolutely devastating this year if Pryor plays
3.  Linebackers.  #33 and co. should be outstanding.
4.  Pryor.  Even if he doesn't play all that much or at all this year, the future is bright for OSU.

I look forward to a good game in USC with the defense dominating with double digit sacks

I'm worried Beanie will get hurt and miss some of the season

I'm worried that the OSU receivers seem to no get that much sepration and make sub par secondaries look like an All American defensive backfield. Hopefully they have been destroying the Weight room!

I too hope the defense starts pushing/controlling the line of scrimage and become the big uglies like the 02 team!

I hope someone comes up in the secondary and gets a Jack Tatum Mean streak in them in the secondary and seperates all the tomato can recievers we make look like Jerry Rice (name any from our SEC folks.) A fierce intimidating hitter like Mike Doss who owned the middle in 02.

The kicking game is like the ohio lottery a big gamble. Scary but at the same time when petry hits a 61 yarder that will be ecstacy (sp)

I hope and pray to the football gods that MISSAGAIN still sucks and loses to us another year. I'm sorry but I love the rivalry at this point and could care less if they won another game in my lifetime. Did I mention Tim BIAKAclowna or Desmond "espn" HoeWard or maybe going further back Jim Freakin Harbuagu, Rich Wrangleround or maybe Rickey Leaches or I will give respect to a few like Bo (he made the rivalry good even though woody could take him in a fist fight hands down) and Mike Boren Sr (only because it would be nice to see your sons play in OSU garb versus the winged helmets like you did

I KNOW ALL YOU SEC/MEECHIGON fans will correct my spelling of all those great U of m ...up North players I know how to spell them I just don't give them the satisfaction.

GO BUCKS! Beat the crap out of USC and press on to a third NC game and take care of business this time and stop all the naysayers and hatorade throwers.  War Ohio State in 08!

I agree with everything that Meister04 stated so well.  Our number one (and only real) weakness this season is Boeckman.  He does well in the easy games and when there's no real pressure; but when the pressure's on, he falls apart like wet toiletpaper.  I've rewatched the Illionois, UM, and LSU games at least a dozen times during the off season, and each time confirms just how completely Boeckman lost his poise.

I think that the Defense got a bad rap from the NCG.  They were just left in horrible situations (e.g. the blocked FG), and especially by Boeckman.  OSU's offense outperformed LSUs offense, but the vast majority of it came on a few big plays and on drives that were blown by Boeckman's turnovers.  Usually, it was just 1-2-3-punt, and the defense was left on a short field for most of the game.

However, I do believe that the D-line has to start getting penetration, and the D-backs must learn to catch the INTs (I counted 14 dropped INTs in the last 4 games).

A huge concern is also special teams.  We need some performance on returns!!!

There are 2 concerns I have going into the season. 1) The ability to defend the spread. Our defense is outstanding against traditional teams, but looks mortal against the Florida's and Illinois' . They use trickery to negate our raw talent. I think having Terrelle Pryor running #2 in practice will help enourmosly though. Which leads me to 2) Todd Boeckman. At the beginning of last season I was real high on Boeckman. He would stand in and take the big hits and make spectacular throws, long or short. But at the end he looked rattled. He will be the starter (Pryor will probably play also) and his performance is key. Sorry about the length!!

I see that someone mentioned Doss and we are missing that intimidating hitter in the defensive backfield.
